It was a bad day to begin with. I had to wake up for class at eight in the morning after going to bed at four (lets just say that i was studying). After a five hour block I returned to the dorm room exhausted and hungry. Of course, all during my class, which was a trip to Capitol Hill, all I could think about was unicycling and which congressman’s desk would be easiest to crank grab. I then talked with some people about whether to ride a bicycle in the biking club at shool, or to make a geared hub for a coker and try to compete that way (there are no unicyclists at my school so i have to socialize with the dorks with training wheels). I eventually gave up on the coker idea when i remebered that a) I have no money and b) when I do get money it will go towards my muni. At that point I really did not feel like doing trials or practicing new tricks but I wanted to get outside so I geared up and left the room. What followed was two and a half hours of sheer enjoyment. I learned two new mounts, started learning idling with the opposite foot, worked on rolling hops and seat out hops, worked on riding on tall skinny things, practiced wheel walking, perfected (not really) forwards to backwards transitions, and worked on hopping up flights of stairs without correction hops. It was awesome! When I finished, not only where my legs sore, but my right arm was sore as well (from the hopping, obviously). It was one of those days that proves my obsession with one wheel…
