Another Progress Report (yep, I'm jugglin'!)

So here I am cruising down the road and I feel the need to adjust my…uh
um…position on the seat. I use my hands (duh!) to realign the “gear.” This
clues me in to the fact that I can ride with my hands to the side (rather than
flailing about.) Even though I learned to juggle (basic 3, inbetween, no loop)
long ago, I thought it would be too complicated to do while unicycling and never
even tried. I was quite surprised when I tried juggling 3 rocks (all I could
find at the time). I don’t lose my balance but sometimes miss a catch. Then I do
two in one hand (left or right!) I’m still quite sloppy but I’m just startin’
(and not fallin’!)

Now for the questions!

I can’t idle! Do I need to hold onto something to get the feeling?

How do I smoothen my turns? I can turn within about a 6’ radius but it’s a
jagged, “tire-wearing” (you can hear it) turn. Not much lean, just hard/easy,
hard/easy pedaling.

I keep telling my wife, kids, and friends that it’s not easy and really takes
talent to be a “Clown!” They refuse to see the seriousness here!

This is addictive! What’s next? Stay on Top! Steve

Re: Another Progress Report (yep, I’m jugglin’!)

When you turn by leaning it is necessary to pedal faster as you are turning and
to pedal smoothly througout the turn. If you don’t pedal smoothly the turn will
not be smooth and steady. Lean into the turn and remember to pedal faster as you
are turning.

If you’re a physicist you should know why you need to pedal faster as you turn.
If you’re not a physicist stop analyzing and just enjoy the ride.
