Hi everyone, I have strained a ligament in my ankle so I have been staff spinning. I have a video so here it is.
VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Since I sprained my ankle I can’t ride my unicycle so I have been staff spinning. In total I have been practicing staff for no more than 4 weeks. I’ve learnt quite a few effective tricks in a short amount of time. So this is filmed down the street at a park area and it’s me spinning a 135cm staff and doing lots of variations, hope you enjoy
When i chucked the staff in the air that was because there was a stupid fly on my face which distracted me
I was expecting the artistic kind of staff spinning rather than the fighting kind of staff spinning. The artistic kind of staff spinning can be done with fire.
Looks can be decieving. There is more skill to the artistic staff performances, than spinning a staff fast. Theres a kid at the fire group I’m with, insists on spinning the staff fast, OK it may look half decent, but add fire and get him to do tricks and it falls apart. Spinning the staff at speed is ok if you have the tricks to throw in, and the knowledge & practise with fire, otherwise it’s not up to much.
Unisykolist, it looks like your back passes could do with some work.
I do anything. On youtube there is a guy called lordtains and he has heeps of tutorials. I also looked up some martial arts style tutorials. So yea I just learned what ever. :o
I will probs get a fire staff this year sometime. And my ankle is close to healed can’t wait, I will be doing sedjquadriplebackflips.
Do what’s fun to do. I just have a bias towards thinking of the performance style of staff spinning because that is what I see when I go to juggling conventions. If the martial arts style of staff spinning is more fun (or the tutorials more readily available) then do that.
