How do some people have animated avatars and when i try to upload a animated .gif file it says “you may not upload animated files”

gilby stopped people using them a while ago, however if you were using it at the time you could keep it animated.
people who joined later only get non-animated avatars.

The button which you can use in the gallery to download files, instead of messing with the right click which doesn’t always work.
I’ve been pleading with Killby to bring back animated avatars since the day they were removed, but to no avail. The dark lord of the fora hath spoken and deemed all avatars of good or animativity to be unwelcome.

most of the animated avatars left are not annoying. that’s good.
And even if they were, you, as an individual user, could choose if you wanted to see them or not.

How did I get dragged into this? I did not say a word about animated avatars. (At least not in this thread.)
If you want to turn off animated avitars, either do it in your user options, or just press Esc on your keybooard and all animated GIFs on the page will stop.

That is indeed the simplest single way to ensure you don’t get irritated by animated avatars.
Methinks it might be time to petition Gilby for the re-enactment of animated avatars on his forum.
