For some crazy reason the hill is called Cooper’s Hill.
Soooo, it’s named after a guy who makes barrels but large lumps of cheese are thrown down it.
It is amazingly steep, although I’ve lived in the area all my life I’ve never been tempted to take part.
If you stand at the top the feeling is more like standing at the top of a cliff than a slope that anyone normal would run down.
I don’t know if it was clear from the video but the reason there are catchers is that there is NO run off. I think there’s a house at the bottom and the runners would crash into their garden hedge if the catchers weren’t there.
