Anatomy of a Unicycle?

All,

Other than love and tenderness, what are the components of a unicycle?

Specifically, what are the individual sets of parts that make up a unicycle, for situations where I was building a uni from the ground up, using off-the-shelf components?

I mean, if I sent instructions to 10 different relatives, saying to one “buy me this tire” and to another “buy me this seat” and to another “buy me these pedals”, etc., etc., what are the discrete compoents that would get me a ready-to-assemble unicycle, even down to having all the nuts, bolts, and screws I need (if any)?

I just want to start understanding the individual pieces, now that I am riding one.

This thread is a bit quiet so I’ll chip in my 0.02UKP’s worth (no refunds).

Typically, from the ground up:-

Tyre
Inner tube
Rim (and some Rim Tape)
Spokes (typically 36 of them)
Hub
2 Bearings
2 Cranks - 1 Left, 1 Right (with 1 nut and 1 cap per crank)
2 Pedals - 1 Left, 1 Right
Frame (with bearing holder caps, (4) bolts, (4) nuts and (4) split-ring
washers)
Seat post clamp (usually comes with the frame)
Seat post
Seat (with (4) nuts and (4) split-ring washers)

This isn’t a definitive list. It’s what my unicycle’s made out of though,
it’s pretty standard.
Sorry if I’ve missed anything.

That is exactly the kind of thing I needed! I just want to know what people are talking about when I read posts that deal with parts.

Thanks a million,

Lewis
