An unexpected benefit of leg shaving

I don’t usually shave my legs for cycling, but for the last few weeks I
have been.

This afternoon I was riding one of my ultimate wheels, which tends to be
a fairly painful experience because I’m not good enough to stop the
wheel flopping from side to side and the tyre rubbing against my legs.
I found that it was less painful than usual, so I could go on for
longer. Evidently the tyre must have been tugging at my leg hairs in
the past, now there are no leg hairs for it to tug at.

With no leg hairs you could also put tape on your leg where the wheel rubs. The wheel will rub against the tape. Low friction. No burns. Less pain. And with no leg hair you can rip the tape off when you’re done.

Long lycra/spandex tights also are nice for the UW. Low friction. But the thought of wearing a hole through my cycling tights keeps me from doing it very often.

I’ve been shaving my legs for 8 months or so. I can safeley say that legarmour is much more comfy with no fur to get in the way.

That’s a great idea. I’ll have to try that.

I did some UW riding in my Bikesters yesterday afternoon and found that
they worked well. But I had the same thought about wearing a hole
through them.

You can also wear shin guards or the like if you don’t have bare legs.

Leg shaving?!?!Eew! the little hairs get all stuby and itchy.

I hope you’re using a blue razor. A pink razor would be so unmanly.

Not if you shave every day. Don’t get all hung up on the male stereotype. Try it!

Wax instead, you would have to do it less often (so I’m told…)

That’s what my wife told me would happen, but I haven’t had a problem.
