This guy has a very unique craft. I hope you enjoy his machine as much as I did.
really needs a geneva wheel in there
I’m amazed. I can’t wait til I retire…
A useless masterpiece I love it.
wow that must have taken ages to build I didnt watch the whole thing to long. lol but thats just me…
Haha “no”. It would be cool if it did something like a rube machine (is that what it’s called?). You know, where it does something really simple like squeezing a balloon pump or something like that :p.
That’s incredible. What a project!
strangely they’re known as rube goldberg machines in the US and heath robinson machines in the UK. I’ve never found out why.
It’s a matter of national pride. From Wiki:
William Heath Robinson (31 May 1872 – 13 September 1944) was an English cartoonist and illustrator, who signed himself W. Heath Robinson. He is best known for drawings of eccentric machines and “Heath Robinson” has entered the language (in British usage) as a description of any unnecessarily complex and implausible contraption.
Reuben Garret Lucius Goldberg (July 4, 1883 – December 7, 1970) was an American cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor who received a 1948 Pulitzer Prize for his political cartooning. He is best known for his series of popular cartoons depicting Rube Goldberg machines, complex devices that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways.
just what i was about to say lol. That must have taken ages to make.
Apparently he added some more elements to that machine later on:

And here’s his first nutty machine:
Thank’s for the update vids
I’m a bit of a hacker and crafts person myself, so I can see this guys heart. I’m not planning on trying anything like this myself. As a shoddy wood worker, and so-so mechanic, I see this guy as being a lot of things I’m not. I respect his passion for his game.
He dreams and makes it happen in wood, specific dreams (bullet wood here, must use hickory there).
He won’t get any competition in the near future, I will guess. He’s running his own race.
Uni riding is considered niche, yet I bet we will keep waiting for the next vid of someone making something like that toy. A notch or two past niche.
I bet this guy is so cool that his vid will inspire some people to make stuff like that
The other side of my head hurts, wooden gears Wear , hello, the reason people use metal gears.
Because it is a low load toy, rarely run, it can defy normal laws of mechanics.
I look at it much as if it was a top fuel funny drag bike. Made one off to do the job for a few seconds. Then it’s rebuild time.
I don’t think this guy has too many different outfits.
It ain’t a toy unless you can shoot your eye out with it.
“it;s sort of like paris hilton, high maintenance”
you mean it’s sort of like paris hilton, pretty but completely useless
still no geneva wheel
Yesterday my lifemate and I brung our older kid to “Les machines de Nantes”. We live very close to this particular place which has been opening for 2 years now.
I knew what it was all about, having seen some of the always impressive “Royal deluxe” street performances (google it). Nevertheless I spent 2 and a half hours in another world.
We planned to see the “Galerie” with all the machines escept the elephant BUT One of my fellow unicyclist works there and proposed us a free family elephant ride.
spending time in the galery surrounded with those fancy, noisy, smoky, sprankly, machines brings you elsewhere, but the elephant definetely take you far somewhere beetween your mecano/lego age and you craziest dreams.
My friend’s job is really cool.
So, they are not really wooden machines but I think they deserved to be mentioned here.
watch that, You may find some english vid too.
