alloy crank for 20" zephyr

I just started learning how to ride a unicycle on a 20" zephyr. The
zephyr works great except that the steel used to make the crank is too
soft for the threads on the pedal where it attaches to the crank. The
metal threads that belong to the crank are disintegrating into metal
filings. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find a crank
made of something that won’t disintegrate as I put my weight on the
unicycle pedals. Thanks.

Though the Zephyer is a low end unicycle, the cranks should not disintegrate. It
sounds like you may have your wheel on backwards. Like a bicycle, the pedal on
your right foot should be the one with right hand threads. The left pedal has
reverse threads, to keep it from unscrewing. If you’re riding the wheel
backwards, the pedals will tend to loosen, and then chew up the threads. Look
for an L or R, stamped on the end of the crank, or on the greasy part of the
pedal. Get the pedals real tight (if it’s not too late) and make sure the wheel
is the right way.

If you bought it at a bike shop and they assembled it, the mistake was theirs.
They should know better, and they should replace your cranks.
