This was brought to mind by the favorite albums thread. I thought it would be cool to have a thread with with a compilation of some of our favorite album cover art.
I like a lot of the old prog band art like Roger Dean.

I would add Out Of The Blue by ELO, but I don’t have a scan of the cover. You need to open it flat and scan the whole thing, as it’s one large illustration (of a spaceship that’s shaped kind of like a Frisbee).
I loved progressive rock too. So much so that I owned several Triumvirate - an ELP knock-off band, albums. I saw Nektar in '77 at the Beacon Theater, the same place I saw Queen, and the same stage from which I gave the valedictory address for the Seward Park graduating class of 1978.
And, by the way, a nice album cover.
Do you remember which album they performed? That was about the era of Recycled (which would be awesome to see live), or maybe Magic is a Child.
We graduated the same year.

Ill have to dig through 600 cds until I find a cover that really stands out, but for now, im really in the mood to listen to Spocks Beard, Or Camel.

Does anyone remember the album cover for Mom’s Apple Pie’s first release? It was banned shortly after being released in 1971. I remember seeing the posters all over the lower east side and Greenwich Village advertising it and the snickers of my then 15 year old brother.
I can honestly say that it would surprise me to discover that the Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention album cover for Weasels Ripped My Flesh was not the favorite of all who have seen it.
It is a cheesy take off of the cover of the September 1956 issue of Man’s Life.
Okay, that is just weird. The weasels, that is.
This is not my favorite(I don’t really have one) but I thought it was cool.
It’s Chris Rice’s “Smell the Color 9” album cover.
All time favorite inside; that’s the kind of artwork that really separates the seeds from the shake.
And YES…it’s all about the Weasels. Great art with a weird-ass great album to back it up.
