air seat for Schwinn?

Now that I’ve got my new seat post, my friend has his Schwinn back and I’m
trying to get him to start riding with me again. He wants to make the seat more
comfortable first though.

It looks like there’s no way to put an inner tube in his seat. There’s no cover
– just dense blue foam all the way through.

What should he do?

Is there another seat that can be modified with an inner tube and will fit on a
Schwinn seat post?

He could destroy all the foam (which I think would be a shame) and try to make a
cover to hold the inner tube in place, but that’s risky. If it doesn’t work out,
we’ve destroyed a nice seat for nothing.

The old style Schwinn seat works fine as as an air seat. It has a big removable
rubber seat cover with a piece of foam that comes out easily. I made one and it
is much more comfortable. You can get the seats from the Unicycle Factory, and
they come on some Semcycles.

This has probably been covered… but has anyone tried “Water or Gel”
instead of air?
