So here’s the thing, I have been trying to install the trials of a couple adobe programs, (Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, Flash, Indesign etc…) and everything goes smoothly, but when I try to actually install it, it thinks that the programs are already installed, and that I should use the original installer.
I haven’t installed any adobe programs, so what do I do?
I looked around for a while on the Adobe site, but I couldn’t find a contact email adress, should I call them?
Adobe probably isn’t too interested in helping you troubleshoot software you haven’t bought yet. Did you download the software from Adobe? In other words, make sure it’s the real thing, and not something that’s been torrented, or otherwise possibly contaminated.
I know that before Photoshop CS3 came out they had a public beta. If you used the beta you had to do some manual uninstalling before you could install the finished product. They had an article in their knowledgebase about this. Sounds like you need to do something similar. That is, to clean out all the bits and pieces of whatever may be getting in the way of these installs, be they .dlls, registry entries, or whatever.
So I recommend banging around Adobe’s knowledgebase with search terms such as uninstall and installation.
well i wish i could track down the “legit” torrent file for the programs, you would totally have them right now… i have heard of people getting adobe master suite cs3 w/ a good crack…
You forgot to mention the Mac. Still the same story, as what I related earlier applied to Macs as well. But it may be easier to do the cleanup. It may be preference files blocking you, but I’m not going to tell you to get rid of everything marked “adobe” for instance. Stick with the knowledgebase.
Also you could try removing Adobe Viewer (free) to see if that’s causing problems, but it shouldn’t…
