Adobe Premiere

Does anyone use this prgram for video making and if so can you tell what is the best or most practical export option to keep file size down but still retain the best quality that is possible.
Currently I have about 1.50 minutes of footage and it just seems much to big of a file size at 60mb+.
Currently using premiere 6.5, I know this is old so might this be effecting the end result?

I use it.

what I do, thanks to evil_nick for telling me about this…

export it as an avi file ‘export movie’

then open that movie in windows movie maker and select the file size you want the end result to be.

I like making it about 10mb/minute for nice clarity

This depends on the version, but what I do is click on the sequence I want to export and go to file->export->adobe media encoder. Then I think I pick MPEG-1 NTSC format… and that should make a decent size (something close to 10mb/min).

If I’m editing raw DV avi footage (straight off the camera), I export it in the same format and then import that (often huge) file into windows movie maker, like Brian said.

The other output formats Premiere gives you always seem a bit weird so I stick to this method.

Hope this helps.

puzzling why it’s media encoder doesn’t have a target file size, the options they provide leave for pretty sucky image quality
