There is a new DVD coming out soon of the last 4 years of The Redbull
Mountain Mayhem. On the front cover is our Alan (aka Aardvark). It is
intended to be
very mass distribution.

That sounds interesting. Does Alan know he’s going to be on the cover

oooh was that what those people at redbull were interviewing for? Might have
me looking a bit dead on it!

Re: Aardvark on DVD
Unfortunately it is not me, but Joseph Rowing. You will recall we shared
a Coker for the event and had both our numbers on the wheel. The
Red Bull people phoned me yesterday to confirm, based on the number
visible in the picture. Oh well.
I think my Coker looks pretty good in the picture. And Joe’s OK, I s’pose…
If anyone has contact details for Joe, I think the Red Bull people want a
statement from him about the event.

Slightly off topic…
Is Redbull a company, a place, a frame of mind, or what? I’v seen the name associated with other sporting evensts- Speed Gliding (Hang Gliding), and Aerobatics (Para Gliding)… but in different locations…
Please don’t tell me it’s a brand of Alchohal…

It’s a so-called sports drink. It contains taurine and other garbage
which makes it the perfect mixture of toxic waste to keep you
awake at night. Red Bull sponsors lots of sporting events.
Interestingly, they told us not to drink it during the cycle race…

Would that be bad?

it’s an energy drink (not alcoholic) maker that happens to sponsor lots of
‘extreme’ events, from Red Bull mountain bike races (endurance and
downhill), skiing, mass skates etc.

Not quite. It’s a drink with lots of sugar, caffeine and other stuff
that generally keeps you awake and makes you hyperactive.

Does Alan at least make an appearance in the video? Is the Red Bull Mountain Mayhem a bicycle event that the Aardvark crashed, or is it a uni event?
Ahhh- I see, I see. Here in the states, we are not… uh… fortuneate enough to milk Bulls for our sports drink; rather we are religated to juicing 'Gators.
Is Red Bull widely consumed? Does it use the english name, regardless of country? I wonder if it sells well in India?
Humm… maybe Arnie could protest this slight by marketing his own speciality drink. “Feel the Power of the Aardvark!”

rhysling,

It’s a mountain bike event that various of us crashed, some of us more
literally than others.

(In the UK) Yes… sold in pretty much any corner-shop you walk into.
Also has become quite popular in bars, drunk with vodka, or tequilla
AND vodka (then called TVR).
It really does a great job of keeping you awake, but tastes pretty foul
IMHO.

Red Bull is the “original” stuff, I’ve seen clones called “Red Devil”,
“Blue Charge” and other things.
I rather suspect this isn’t true, but I have been told by more than one
person that one of the active ingredients is illegal in the US and most
European countries, so it’s pretty much only sold in the UK.

Red Bull is definitely sold in the US. It might not be sold in all markets;
it’s a fairly new drink, over here at least.

In fact it’s a mountain bike event that I mainly walked
Better next year, though. Oh yes! Well maybe…
It’s pretty widespread in US, actually. You guys haven’t seen those obnoxious animated commercials? “Red Bull gives you WINGS!”
My roommate tried it and said it was pretty bad. I’ve always thought it was pretty creepy. The can looks like Malt Liquor or something.
It’s a shame they can’t make an energy drink that tastes good.
never tried red bull myself, but someone had it in my room. my room is lit with 4 4foot blacklights, and i can tell you that red bull glows an amazing toxic looking green, really wonderful to look at when he poured it into vodka…kinda like a lava lamp

It’s sold in the Netherlands as Red Bull, in original composition
AFAIK.

And you think we are Strange?

Its called Red Bull in China, or at least the western print on the can
says Red Bull, what the rest said, I couldn’t tell you. The China version
allededgly has all the stuff in that the Uk one can’t because its illegal
in the Uk. Denmark and Canada have both banned the drink as the Caffine
content is too hight to be sold as a “soft drink” in those countries.
While we were at Unicon, Red Bull could be found in all the supermarkets
and gas stations in the area, so I guess its legal in the USA. Tastes foul
tho. You have been warned.
