Well, if you live in the valley below Lake Tahoe, you are in for a rough ride.
Last night there was a slight breeze.
This morning there were gusts of wind reaching well over 100 mph. The weatherman said, “And keep a good eye out for tumbling trees and flying cars.” He was right, as an enormous tree in my yard finally gave way and crashed down onto my fence, and a school bus flipped over three streets away. Another tree on the side of my house that is next to a large steel shed was being blown so hard that it lifted up the ground around it and the shed itself about three inches. Many of the neighbor’s fences and roofs are gone.
I had plans today to ride up Heart Attack(named by Jeepers)/Cherry(called by everyone else in the valley)/Hercules(named by Nevada state legislature) Hill and get a photo of me with a view of the valley and the Sierras in the background for the next Capture The Moment contest. I rode for about a half hour. I was done; I could barely walk down the street without being blown over. Walking to the mailbox, an aluminum can passed me doing about 90 down the street.
Around 7:30 am, the power went out. It is still out at 6:30 pm. But, it was really nice in school without power, because we got to use our iPods, cell phones, and we even had a paper airplane contest in Computer Lit.
Did I mention the dirt rain? Because there is a desert one block away from my house, the sideways rain mixed with dirt and sandblasted everything with mud.
Pics coming soon.
I still don’t know why I wrote this thread, maybe this could be a thread for the worst conditions you have ever ridden in.
