A question about stairs....

So today I almost conquered going down 2 flights of stairs today on my 20", and tomorrow I hope to be able to ride down it on every attempt…
…soon i want to be able to ride down them on my coker, and this got me thinking about how big the coker wheel is, so i have a question for all of the experienced coker riders out there… can you ride up stairs on a coker? the wheel seems big enough and all…
I can hop up stairs on my 20" and i am starting to hop on my coker, but riding up stairs seems a lot more impressive…
any answers?

i’ve heard of a few people doing it, but not many at a time, and very few people…

danke

Someone did it up a pretty solid flight of stairs on the Inner Balance video. I’ve done a 3-set, never tried much more.
but I should

Well, I did this (and a bunch of other stuff) on my 36er. No easy task. But nobody is ever going to ride up that flight like that! Way to steep and the face of each step is just too high.

Think of a set of stairs as a very steep hill with no smooth transition at the bottom (you have to kind of slam into it). With practice it should be pretty repeatable to at least ride up some small stair sets. Then you have to consider your wheel. A new Coker has 48 spokes and a much better rim than the originals, for instance. Riding stairs (up or down) will take its toll, so be prepared to do truing or more drastic repairs…

Well… David Weichenberger rides up stairs with his trials  He really RIDES them, not hopping up.

well i guess i am going to have to try now considering it is possible…but i am going to pad up will!!
thanks for the replys!

Riding up Stairs

Not the easiest thing in the world. I can ride up a standard sidewalk curb on my 24". That is comparable to a standard stair. I would view stairs as riding up multiple sidewalks. I have not tried but as soon as my broken leg has healed some more I will try to ride up stairs. It should be doable. Keep in mind that riding up steep asphalt hills is much easier than riding up rocky hills. The rocks are kind of like little stairs that slow you down. The hard part about riding up stairs would be to keep the momentum going.

I have seen a video of some guy at MOAB riding up stairs with what apears to be a 26". He rode up about 6 stairs before UPDing.
