A good airseat?

I have a Kris Holm seat now for my 29" Yuni and I was wondering if this air seat will be significantly more comfortable…

Is that a good airseat? Is there a cheaper way to maybe convert my kris holm to an airseat?

That’s a really nice seat; I have one on my Coker. Both the KH and those air seats are comfortable. For lots of extended riding, the general consensus of this newsgroup is that air works better. But seat comfort is a very personal thing, so keep that in mind.

You can make your own air seat by buying a regular Miyata one, and simply replacing the main piece of foam with a tube. I’ve done this with two seats, and even though there is no air pillow or other fancy stuff in there, they’ve held up fine.

Before you go changing your seat though, make sure you’ve invested in a good pair of cycling shorts. They work wonders.

Yeah, I think that maybe that might just be my problem. I was going to get some cycling shorts, but they also cost a lot of money. The airseat would be a future purchase, I need to get some 125 mm cranks and GB handles first.

do you know of any cheap places online to get some cycling shorts?

I have some nice ones from Performance. They were not too expensive, but are equally comfortable with my more expensive, newer ones. That was a few years ago and I don’t have recent experience with the products. I live near a Performance store, so haven’t had to order from the catalog for many years.

Don’t be cheap. Buy the cheapest shorts and you still won’t know what difference a good pair of shorts can make!

Here’s a quick example I just looked up, without being very thorough:

I’m telling you, THESE are the babe magnet bike shorts right here.

Perhaps you should put a warning in the title of this thread now…
