A few tracks I'm working on.

Ok, up for criticism now, the link to my myspace music profile. The tracks may not be to everyones taste, but it’d be cool to hear feedback from anyone who listens to them.

I have put them together on FL7XXL, which I am still figuring out how to use properly.

Any comments will be apreciated.

Ta muchly.

I liked them all and my favourite was the second one.Im not sure what criticism i could give really.Im not very good of knowing what i dont like about a song unless its Soulja Boy

I like it.

Seems like you are using the loops more than anything, so it could get better if you start to use the piano roll to and write out your own beats and loops. And change things up a little bit, like some big changes, just to keep the listener interested, cause sometimes the same loop again and again can get tiring, even if its good. Like if you listen to a 1hr techno track, theres probably going to be about 10 different sections that are all different from each other to make it up.

Pretty sweet though. ive only used FLstudios twice. Once when it was still just called Fruity Loops, and then again a little bit ago for a small beat and the part of my song called Trial Thump.

I don’t like to use looped samples much in the tracks, also most of the looped samples I have speed up to match the tempo the track is set at, so they are useless to me. I tend to set FL to run at around 270 - 300 bpm, and I space out the beats a bit more, this way it gives me more places to put stuff, and it allows for more complex patterns.

The music I like doesn’t seem to have much in the way of changes to the music side of the track, but then I don’t think they need to as they usually have vocals. I can see what you mean, for a more instrumental track.
I used to use Octamed on the Amiga back in 96, but that was not quite the standard FL is up to, and I’m still figuring stuff out.

I’ll bear that in mind though when I get the next track started, to have a bit more variation.

Cheers Jerrick, and I’ll have a look at the link in a bit.

Yeah, its fun to throw things around every now and then.

Right now I use quite a bit of things. If have FL studios 8. Im pretty sure its the xxx version, or something like that. Then I 99% of the time use Cubase sx3, have a single channel premap and condenser mic in my room for recording my guitar or bass. Then the rest is vsts. Kontakt 3, guitar rig 3, LPC library, EZdrummer, Musiclab Real guitar, Miroslav Philharmonix, Vocaloid 1 and 2, I think 1 or 2 more.

Its weird having guitar vsts when I play guitar, but all of my gear is at the band house we have rented out, so I need something to get the guitar track down while my actual stuff is a few miles away from me.

I only have FL at the moment, till I figure everything out, and I don’t play any instruments.I’ve heard of Cubase, any good? A mate was to be bringing Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 round for me to have a look at, but it’s yet to happen.

Had a listen to the track, not my kinda stuff, but it’s put together good.

Yeah, cubase is great, its used in tons of studios and stuff Right up their with protools. They are all pretty sweet, its mainly comes down to what you are used to and want to do.

Thanks, that song I didnt think would do so well, cause it was two loops I grabbed from Fl, then the last part was all by guitar. But I just had one part go, do a solo to it, have it end, go into the 2nd part, and then a 3rd part, but people seem to like that one the best.

Its funny cause you can go from that track, to another one it will be a complete symphonic song I did a week or two ago. The songs I record are all over the place.

Haha, that turkey/chicken picture you have is freaky.

Cool, I’ll look into Cubase some time.

I noticed one of the loops. Variety is cool, better to be able to work on a few styles rather than just one.

I’m bored of having un-named tracks, so I decided to name it after the first random thing i saw in the room, hence rubber chicken. I noticed pics can be uploaded for the tracks, so I google-imaged for rubber chicken, and I found the rubber chicken with breast implants pic I have used.

I really kind of liked your tracks, in a Philip Glass kind of way. They were kind of minimalist like PG, but had a sort of darkness that I liked.

They do get a little repetitive, though. Perhaps adding another layer, another voice on top of some of the loops after they’ve repeated a few times.

Thanks.

At the moment I don’t have a mic, and can’t find anything in the way of vocals that I like.

By voice, I don’t necessarily mean a human voice. A guitar, bassoon, drum, cello, harmonica - anything really - would work.

Keep posting if you make some changes. I’d like to hear them

If you need any guitar work done, you know of a guitarist who would do it.

I have a load of orchestral samples, but none I particularly like, or that would go with what I’m going for. I am working on rubber chicken at the moment, I thought it needed something else before I uploaded it.

Yeah, I’ll post to let people know of any changes / new tracks.

I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Heres what im working on now.

Nice playing Jerrick. I would be interested in hearing the finished / full version of this once you get it done.

I just finished recording the gutiar part. I just need to decide what to do with it, cause I have an opera singer who wants to sing for it, so im trying to decide if I should keep it all to classical, or change it to a metal tune.

From my perspective definetly use the classical rendition of it. (old guys opinion)
