A couple freestyle Qs...

Hi all, I’m hoping some of you would be ableto help me out with a few freestyle questions, here goes:

When (trying!) to one foot wheel walk, does the ‘spare’ foot touch the tyre at all to act as a brake? I seem to stop the whel moving when it’s there, but the wheel shoots out if it isn’t!

How do you do the thing where you jump 180 degrees around the unicycle (like a uni spin except with the rider doing the spin!)

How do you do the Dan Heaton-esque unispin with one hand when the unicycle is underneath you to start off with(as opposed to being held out in front)

Also, I can’t get the hang of balancing on one foot on the crank without the wheel rolling out, any advice?

Thanks a tonne,
James

And… to the top with you! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again,
James

No you don’t put your foot on in 1foot wheel walk the spare foot go’s on the frame it just takes practice to get your balance.Unsure on the other stuff but if you are learning 1foot wheel walk so you can glide it is well worth it although i went a slightly different route
I learned to ww 1ft ww then got bored started coasting go so far got annoyed with it found i could magically glide! Amazing! i am not perfect at coasting i have done 5 revs max but i got tried of that and found i could glide much easier and can do about 10 revs now sorry if that was no help bt it beats revision the other stuff is just strange the crank stand sounds easy but i never tried.
Can any one help me with that off the wall thing that dan heaton does in universe 2 he go’s in seat out back onto a wall holds a window sil and off in2 seat out front anyone can do it here?
Ben

Thanks, anybody else?? I’ve tried a quick, but I don’t kow what a couple of the things are called, so I don’t kow what to type! Come on, somebody must be able to help me out!?

Re: A couple freestyle Qs…

  1. For “one foot” wheel walk, the other foot has to stay off the wheel. Otherwise you loose all your points in a Standard Skill routine. You can use the other foot to help you out when learning of course.

  2. I haven’t done that one. It must be tough to get the rotation of the body without rotating the uni the opposite way.

  3. You mean a unispin, starting without the seat in front? Same way, I’d expect. don’t start rotating the uni until your legs are out of the way. the rest is the same.

  4. Not sure what you’re trying to do. Does it have a name? (the names are in the Standard Skill List, in the USA or IUF Rulebooks)

Dan Heaton does it in Universe in the intro where he stands on the cranks and passes the uni out in front, around the back and back to the front again, stepping over the frame as it passes and Universe 2 after a unispin on a wall where he stands on the part of the crank that is attached to the hub with one foot, leans the unicycle overand puts his ‘spare’ leg straight out between him and the uni.

Not sure that makes sense, but whenever I try it, the uni always rolls out from under me!

Thanks for the 1foot WW thing tho! I can’t seem to spin the uni by holding the handle one handed, tho I must just need improved wrist strength!
