During a practice at the park, here in Montreal, yesterday evening I met a
rider on a custom 48’’ uni - really impressive I must admit (I was trying
to get after him on my trial 20’’
boy he was going real fast :-)). He had to tie together the spoke
crossings to avoid bending the delicate wheel with his weight (BTW he
had 125mm cranks ? - seems strange)
He told me he got it from someone in the Netherlands - I never saw such
diameters here in north america. Does anybody know if that kind of uni is
made / sold in the US ?

Hi,
Sounds like that’d be SemCycle. They make custom built big wheel unis.

Also, keep checking eBay. I didn’t, but a friend told me about a 46"-er up
for grabs. My brother and I went halfsies on it and got it for a relative
steal (under $300 with shipping). I hope it arrives in good shape. I
understand the cranks are 6.5" and the seat height is not adjustable. Hard
rubber tire of course. Here is the descrip:
This is a custom unicycle unlike any other I have seen! I am selling this
for a Southern California man who builds a variety of custom bikes and
unicycles. This one is definitely a keeper for those of you wanting to add
to your collection or try something new. His description is as follows:
“Uses Schwinn bearings and seat. Has stainless steel spokes, cottered
cranks, 5/8” axle. Rim is made from 2 Schwinn 27 x 1 1/4" rims, splined
and brazed together. Uses wheelchair rubber."
By the way, funny note: Someone already offered to buy it from me, and it
hasn’t even shipped! Sorry, not for sale.
