3v3 Soccer is where it's at!

We just returned from our first day and first experience with 3v3 soccer. It’s a hugh Kick It 3v3 Tournament that is evidently very well organized and travels across the country putting on the events. Today was in Libertyville, IL with 700+ teams. We’re up at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow for the second day of the tournament.

There were the regular joes there but also the best of the best, ODP, and premier club teams present at the tourney. So needless to say, we didn’t fair too well with our teams that we threw together last week. Brad usually plays for the Spectre Soccer Club out of DeKalb but for this tourney, played for a Rockford United club team.

What an amazing game! Much more fast-paced of course than full field soccer. Only thing faster that we’ve experienced is lightning-paced indoor Futsal. But 3v3 is outdoors and requires stamina, lightning reflexes, instinctive decisions…it’s a totally different ballgame. Our plan is to experience the game this summer then prepare competitive teams for next summer.

Soccer’s the game, boys & girls!

Here’s Brad shooting on goal today:

What busy lives your family lead!

Phil

that is so much better on sand and in a cage…

End of the Tourney. Yesterday was overcast and bearable here in Chicagoland, but today was a different story. It was forecast to be 101 degrees and I have no idea where we were temp-wise, but the heat index was incredible. Pure sun, heat and humidity. We managed to come out sunburnt but alive. It’s good to be home in the A/C.

Next weekend, another tourney, this time ODP (Olympic Development Program). The following weekend, another 3v3 tourney possibly in Chicago Heights, then two high school tourneys the last weekend of August and first weekend of Sept. Yeah, Phil, we do lead pretty busy lives even without the sports comentary jobs.

It’s Ben’s turn:

That looks like a lot of fun! My cousin used to constantly play soccer and I went to a few of her games which was fun. She quit recently, though, because she just graduated and doesn’t want to have to bother with it in college. Going by that last picture, I think Ben might want to look here.

What I like better in the last picture is the other team’s jersey. They were sponsored by a dental office.

Forgot to mention, Ben got recruited at the tournament to play for a premier club in Rockford next Spring. We’ll have to look into it.
