360 Camera

I have been playing with a 360 camera. It creates interactive images you can view from any perspective. The only issue you you can’t view the image without the right software or website. I am linking to a facebook post since Facebook supports 360 degree viewing.

These should be visible to the public even if you don’t log into Facebook

Be sure to click and drag on the image/video to see other angles.

Thanks James for sharing.

I was thinking about 360 cams recently and I was wondering how much it improves the quality of the capture and how it looked like.

Have you tried yet on your helmet ?

The compatibility for playback and hosting is a good point too. I think Youtube supports 360 footage too.

Youtube does support 360 video but I haven’t gotten it to work. Here is one I tried to post on youtube. https://youtu.be/deoIP7vZSUg Somehow youtube doesn’t recognize that this is 360 video and does not apply the right filters to un-distort it.

I have not tried helmet mounting the 360 camera. That it tricky with this particular camera since it is an add-on for a phone. So I would need to have my whole phone mounted to my helmet. But the other reason I didn’t try this is you wouldn’t see me or my unicycle if I did this. I thought the 360 camera was a cool way to see the unicyclists and the scenery at the same time or give the viewer the choice of which to look at. With a head mount you lose that ability.

Damn. Sounds pretty groovy

My uncle was over a couple months ago with 6 GoPros in a 360 degree mount (he runs a photography-based company), I didn’t think to take it unicycling!
