Is there any company that manufactures a 3.0 inch tire for a 20 inch,
(bmx), wheel? Thanx, )—(x) Dylan Wallinger Keep Riding
http://www.extremeunicycling-bcmat.cityslide.com
No, definitely not to fit a standard BMX rim. The largest you can get is
2.25", much thinner than the desired 3.0". There are some manufacturers
that make this width tire such as Maxxis, Kenda, Haro etc. My tire page
has a section for 20" tires at:
http://torontounicyclists.tripod.com/tire.htm
If you’re willing to go to a 16" rim and forego the standard BMX rim there
are tires available with a 2.6" width. Once installed and inflated they
will measure 20" x 2.6". Monty and Onza come to mind. The new kid,
Da-Bomb, is about to release a 20" x 3.0" tire, but it’s not out yet. What
rim they’ll use is unknown, but it won’t be a standard BMX rim. It’ll
probably be more of the 16" trials rim.
If you find a tire that’s not listed on my tire page, please let me know
and I’ll add it.

Thanx Don, I am going to be buying the New Norco trials unicycle when
it comes out. I was told that it comes stock with a 2.5 x 20 inch,
Monty Mod-trials back-tire. I was just wondering if I could upgrade to
a 3.0 inch.

You’d have to figure out if the rim is suitable for the DaBomb 20x3.0",
which is not out yet. There’s no “upgrade” tire from Monty that I’ve heard
of. Maybe Kris Holm knows, because he rides for Norco. You’ll need to
check the clearance in width and height. The Monty setup with the United
trials frame offers you scant width clearance.

Hi Dylan,
I think Kris posted a while back saying the new KH20 frame has the
clearance for a 3" tyre. That’s the good news. Details of the rim for the
da-bomb tyre are vague to say the least. Hopefully it’ll be the same size
as a Monty / Onza rim so it would just be a case of switching tyres. It
could theoretically have a slightly smaller diameter to allow for the
extra rubber which would mean building a new wheel. The UK retailer
(http://www.singletrack.co.uk/) carrying the da-bomb trials bikes says
they’re hoping to have some tyres in before Christmas. I think Roger at
Unicycle Source UK has put his name down for some samples
Cheers, Neil

Hi,
I doubt the new Norco trials uni has a wide enough frame for a 3.0" tire.
The Monty tire works really well though, so I don’t think that this is a
big disadvantage. The KH20 (coming soon- my pro-model uni) will fit a
20x3.0" but that’s in a totally different price range.

With a Fireball slick tire, Alex DX32 rim, Profile Crank setup, thompson
seatpost and carbonfibre seat (no brake), the 24" unicycle weighs 14.5
lbs. The 20" version weighs 12.5 lbs. I haven’t weighed the frame by
itself but I think the KH24 frame weighs about the same as a Hunter frame.

Speaking of prices…
Maybe this has been discussed before, but how much will your frames be
going for? Will complete setups (wheel, seat and frame, ect) be availible?
And do you have any idea on an exact release date for the frames ect.
Im deffinatly thinking of going KH20, i want a 20" trials cycle, that has
a flat crown. Is the only other option besides the KH20 a costum unicycle?
Thanks for anyone who can help, especially kris.

Since I don’t have answers, I’ll just add to the question. Are there any
frames at all in the works that will have both a flat crown (to save space
of explanation, I’ll consider the crown on the KH20 flat) and be wide
enough for a 20x2.5 tire?
