2004 Seattle International Juggling Festival June 18 - 20

Advance notice:

The Cascade Jugglers will host the 2004 Seattle International Juggling Festival on June 18, 19, & 20 at the Seattle Center.

June 19 is also World Juggling Day.

The Uniques Unicycle Club will again host the Saturday afternoon Unicycling Workshop.

I’ll bump this thread as more details are known.

Hope to see you there.

UPDATE 2004 Seattle International Juggling Festival

The SIJF doing a 2:00 show on the Mural Amphitheater stage, WEATHER DEPENDENT. If the weather is bad they will not do the show. The show is going to be several short juggling performances for both entertainment of the afternoon crowds but also to promote the larger 8:00 PM Public Show. It is going to be 30 - 45 minutes.

The Uniques are hosting the UNICYCLING WORKSHOP immediately following the Afternoon Show at approximately 3:00. The plan is we will close the Afternoon Show with an unicycling performance/demonstration then go immediately into the Workshop.

The workshop is not weather dependend. As last year; the demo and workshop will be the “Uniques and friends” so all unicyclers are welcome to help and participate.

We are also considering a Seattle ride during the time between the workshop and Public show.

Let me know if you are going to be there by reply to this thread or PM .

Steve

P. S. The 8:00 public show is looking to be real good this year. It is being hosted by the Brothers of Different Mothers and should include David Kelley, Possibly Charlie Brown, Lief, Matt Hall, A Charlie Chaplin routine, The Hamiltons who do a syncronized cigar box routine and more.

UPDATE 2004 Seattle International Juggling Festival

Most recent announcement regarding the SIJF below.

The unicyclers will take the stage at the end of the Saturday afternoon 2:00 Short Show for a unicycling demonstration then go immediately into the unicycling clinic.

We also plan on a 4:00 Seattle Unicycle ride.

It’s not often you read a post about an event five thousand miles away and end up finding out about one five miles away. Thanks…

Hope to see you there!

Re: Last Reminder - Seattle International Juggling Festival 2004

It was a fun festival! Starting with a very informal renegade show Friday night, the juggling and workshops continued through today under the nicest (and warmest) weather Seattle has had all year. Saturday was also World Juggle Day, and the hourly “Beginner’s 3 Ball” workshops put on by the Cascade Jugglers definitely helped add a few new jugglers to the world’s roster. It was fun so see so many families that just happend to be touristing through the Space Needle area stop and try to learn to juggle.

Also on Saturday, the Uniques unicycling club put on a great short demo show on the outdoor “Mural Stage”, with a guest appearance by Dan Heaton. The demo was followed by an informal workshop, and it was great to see the stage get flooded with kids wanting to learn to ride. There were definitely more unicycles happening this year than at any of the prior SIJF festivals, and the Seattle Center folks seemed to be pretty cool about people riding on the grounds.

I’m attaching a link to an album where I’ve uploaded my shots of the events. Mostly riding, but a few juggling shots also. Wish I had captured some shots during the workshop, but I was busy trying to teach an 8-year-old how to get started on one wheel.

Nice write-up and pics Tom!

Sticking the the Blackwood photo theme: Mrs. B was good enough to shoot a bunch of pics with my camera.

They’re posted at http://gallery.unicyclist.com/SIJF04 .

Enjoy.
