19" Trials Crank Length

Hi all,

I just ordered a pair of 125mm cranks for my 19" trials.
I want to be able to go alitle faster and to have better rolling hops (higher - longer)

I couldn’t find too much information about crank lengths tho, I know most people use 137s for trials, anyone used 125s? or shorter?

Ben

I used 125 mm Qu-axes for quite a while. It took a bit to get used to 140’s, but by now I like them better. I really don’t see why you won’t be pleased with 125’s. 140’s did slow me down a bit, but I didn’t detect any difference in my rolling hops…

p.s. welcome to the forums!

How about riding on bumpy land? is there a big difference in the amount of torque you can put down?

Yup. Thats why i went back to 140’s (well 135’s really). I have got the K1-streets. Pretty good cranks if you want to check them out. I personally wouldn’t reccomend 125’s for trials, maybe street, but definately not trials.

I’ve been using 125’s for trials for like 2.5 years now and dont think there that bad. Personly I haven’t used 137’s or 140’s for trials so I dont know what they are like but keen to try 140’s onza tensils  but no UDC stores have them any more

I know someone who has them, but I don’t think they want to sell them. If KH had some 137/100 cranks they would sell them for sure. You should get on KH about that.

yeah i always ride 137, but one day i tried my kh 125’s…and really it was just fine. i could even still ride rails just fine. sure you have less torque, but it’s still a ton of torque, since it’s still just a small wheel.

but regardless, you want to go faster…so 125s are prob better. 137s are def much slower than my 125s.

I was trying to get him to make 137/114 cranks before he came out with the 127/110s I think they would have been the ideal dual hole cranks for road use. Didn’t even think of it as a dual for trials/trails but it would be great for that too.

Anyway back on topic. I haven’t had a 19 since before ISIS was the new big thing (It is floating around Quebec somewhere, I hope to get it back eventually) so have not tried many crank sizes with it. only 150 and 125. 150 was just to long but was a bit more stable for a beginner learning to jump. the 125s were better for everything else.

Shorter cranks help you spin faster and smoother which could help you with the rolling hop and just riding around. 125 is plenty long enough for rolling rough terrain. 19 with 125s is a common MUni setup in europe.

try the denmark store man, thats were i got mine from.

excellent customer service.

Thats good to hear, because I was thinking of getting into some trail riding.
All I heared before from people was “125 is really short…”

My 125s are on their way, and a new hub, so once I build it Ill let you know how I find it.

haha I’m not too bothered about it. I might just get some K1 cranks or the new KH 137s

They also have them on the UK site. I ordered hub and cranks from them their shipping isn’t too bad.

yea I can do that. I live in NZ which is the problem but my mum lives in the UK so when she comes over next I will order stuff lol

Yah. For the 29" Kris holm i want to get and the trails I have around here, I think137/100 would be ideal. Not so sure though because I have never had a chance to try a 29" yet.
100 would be for road and XC while 137 would be for a bit more rugged terrain.
Sorry to kinda jack your thread, but Saskatch what size cranks would you reccomend for road and off-road use in a pretty flat place like florida?

I like em both. I’ve gotten used to the 135’s, but the KH 137’s are pretty raw to. And to the OP if you want to go faster I would definately reccomend the 125’s, more torque 137’s. The length is very noticable when doing natural trials.
I porbably contradicted my previous post.

yea when I got my Ti hub I was going to get 137s (KH) but didn’t because 1:UDC NZ didn’t have the new ones and 2: I didn’t have enough $$$$ which is always a problem
