12" BCing

hey all. i was bored about an hour ago so i went and made a 12" BC wheel. Its fairly easy to ride but your feet hit the ground a lot when you ride it. anyway here is a short clip of me riding it. its more a novelty thing than anything else.

cheers, keep it wheel.

nice how much would you sell that bc for?

i probably wouldn’t sell it. you can go to a bike shop and buy one of those wheels for like $20. plus mine is all crappy and the hub is slightly to big for the hub which makes it real slow.

now i’m not an expert, (but the experts come to me for advice), but that sentence doesnt make any sense.

I made one of those too, but the plates on mine are a little small. It still works, though (It’s just impossible to free mount)

I don’t exactly understand how the plates are connected to the hub, without bearings, but don’t move. Could somebody please explain this to me?

well the wheel has a hub, the hub is completely hollow, and on each end of the hub it is curved so that ball bearings fit inbetween the hub and an axle. the axle can spin freely when it’s attatched to the hub. the plates are titghtened onto the axle using the nuts. so the plates and axle dont move, the wheel spins around them.

I was thinking the same thin Iridemymuni

well my bad. i meant the axle is slightly to big (wide) for the hub. cause i got that axle off a 16" wheel.

i just went for another ride on my 12" BC. its getting to easy. i can now hop up 2 stairs and do 180’s. i can barely do that on my 26" BC. its also good cause you can drop your feet off the back of the plates and brake.

I want one!!!
how much were the plates?

i made those plates. i got 3mm angle bar and welded flat bar onto the sides to make it bigger. my plates are pretty small so if you do buy some they may be to big for a 12" wheel.

I just want one so I can shove a uni in my backpack and take it where I want

yea thats mainly the reason i made it. i want the smallest possible uni thats ridable so i can take that in a bag as well.

nice thats one of the reasons im buying a 12"er after my coker

dont you have to get a giraffe first or do you already have that?

no I dont have a girraffe yet cause my order of getting things is:
girraffe $250
coker $625
12" $150
12"bc $ 30
UW $160
profiles* $600

total $1815

*to break the
world drop
record, sorry tomsey

i also wanna break the world drop record. i bet theres hundreds of people who do though. just no one has the balls to do it.

wouldnt that be an advantage not a disadvantage

I dont really know if I need the profiles as I am only 45-55kg

im only like 56kg, ive twisted (only slightly) my cotterless hub off a 4ft drop. you would definately need splined hub and cranks to do it. whats the world record at the moment?
