10 reasons why gay marriage is wrong

With a recent thread about the subject, I thought I would post this:

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong

  1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

  2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

  3. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

  4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

  5. Straight marriage would be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

  6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

  7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

  8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

  9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

  10. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

(one of the saddest parts about our society is that, these arguments, before the humourous common sense, are the real reasons why people can’t accept gay marriages.)

Some of those actually made me chuckle a little.

As for me, i am not against gay marriages, gay people, or gay anything, though I dont find it right really, theres nothing I can do to change that, I have came long ago to accept gays, back in elementary school actually.

It is their choice to be gay, its mine not to, they will live their lives respectfully just as I will mine.

I agree

I don’t understand why that would be funny. I honestly agree with most of those arguments. The only one I don’t really agree with is number 10 (I don’t think people would want to marry animals anyway…)

By the way this is a repost of someones blog…I can’t take credit for the satire.

God created you and your descending viewpoint to only strengthen the right point of view…the Christian view. You either get it or you don’t. Why don’t you at least try to have an open mind and try to listen to those of us who have been right about everything for the past 2000 years?

You mean just like you were right about the crusades? Or killing the jews? Or burning all the witches? Yeah, you were right about about that.

ummm I dont think they really choose to be gay lol they cant help it…

you got something against tall people? :stuck_out_tongue:

i hang around mr 6.2 feet (edsbelly) and i am still 5.4

I was gonna put the young start in his place  , but…

It’s a joke thread, just read it through and use ya noggin.

Hey! On Sugar Rush (You brits will know what im talking about) the Gay couples son gets to have sex with the hot girl! Gay child? Seems like he’s got the right idea to me!

Rock on!
Edd

EDIT: Ok, ok… I know Suger Rush isn’t real… but shes HOT!

Reading the title of this thread I almost fell down my chair but I soon realized the sarcastic point of view and then I cooled down. I enjoyed it;) …
Not quiet shure about VTUni’s posts  :frowning:

VTUni, you’re kidding, right?

Worringly I think he’s actually being serious…

It takes all sorts, eh.

:frowning: It’s so sad!
At least he or she is “open minded” enough to write 2 following sentences wich contradict one another:o
That’s why I thought that was a 3rd degree humoristic post, but if that’s serious I feel sad for him/her (it ain’t even worth being angry about that:( )

Preventing “sin”…

OK, I’m just curious about some viewpoints here. I’m not exactly intending to start a flamewar, so please keep things nice  If you get too stressed out, go and ride some lines for a bit, okay?

But I am curious. Supposing from a Christian perspective you could legislate against gay marriages, or against homosexuality as a whole. Why would you?

Let me clarify: suppose you believe that you get to heaven by accepting Jesus as your personal saviour and that doing so involves understanding and accepting your sinful nature, and living as much by God’s law as possible.

How does making it illegal - in man’s law - to “sin” help people? It’s no longer their choice - they’re not accepting Jesus and choosing not to do things considered sinful by Christianity. They’re being prevented from doing those things in the first place. Surely this removes the personal responsibility to live a sin-free life? And in doing so removes the choice to actively accept your saviour?

Wouldn’t it make sense to allow people - from a legal standpoint - freedom to do as they please so long as it’s not directly detrimental to other individuals? And then use positive acts of witnessing and education to show people that they should choose to renounce things that are “sinful”? That they’d be better off with Jesus? That way they’re truly making the decision themselves to live as Christians, and they understand that they’re giving up things they could do because they believe Jesus can offer them far more.

Isn’t it more positive to encourage people to think for themselves and choose to convert because of the benefits Jesus can give, rather than outlawing various practices and hoping that will encourage them.

After all, the point of Christianity is not the stuff you can’t do, right? It’s the Good News.

Mark, I tip my hat to you

You mean God didn’t create me out of love, I’m just an instrument to spread His word?
Guess I should of just been aborted then

I love double standards, but only if they work out in my favor

You’re very right. You don’t

-gasps-
You mean to say, that if I’m a Christian, “[my] eyes will be opened, and [I]will be like God, knowing good and evil.”? (Bible, Genesis 3:5)
Wow, where do I sign up?

Isn’t it a lifestyle choice, like riding a unicycle, rather then a genetic “gay gene” thing?

How about a murderer? Do they choose to murder, can control and are responsible for their actions or did they not choose to be a murderer and genetics framed them for it? If we start blaming genetics for our lifestyle choices where would it end? How do you draw the line?

Back to the joke thread.

Did you guys read about the new Batwoman?
She’s a full figured lesbian who exudes sexuality. Definitely bound to cause a stir among all the close-minded-bible-thumpin’-ditto-headed-nincompoops who repress their homosexuality by causing trouble for those who are clear-headed enough to be honest with themselvevs and society.

I think the guys at DC are brilliant. (She’s even got “unicycling thighs!”)

You can safely assume that you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.

~ Anne Lamott

Nice quote. I would translate it in french and claim it all around wether I knew who Anne Lamott is.
