Wow! Whose billion $ castle did they hit?
Or did they just pay far too much for the plane?
bingo…cha-CHING!
haha, owned.
but yeah, that would be so scary, bummer about the plane.
The B2 is a fighter plane right?
eh, close enough. its a bomber
good thing the bombs didn’t go boom.
I don’t think they like to carry real or “live” bombs for training or other non-combat flying. So then it’s just the fuel that blows up…
Glad they got out okay. Does this mean we’ll have to stop fighting in Iraq for two weeks to pay for it?
haha leaving iraq, never, that countrys doomed until extinction, or theres no more possibility to make money from there. lakenheath and all the other us air bases are full of bombs. lakenheath has fighter jets. i doubt they can even reach iraq from the uk. why would they have bombs there??
I’m definitely not voting for you then!
In case there’s a war. Anywhere in that part of the world. Fighters, generally, don’t carry bombs. Purpose-built bombers have much longer range, though it depends on the plane and what it’s designed for. B-52s can fly round and round the world without landing, with refueling, which I’m sure those bases are also equipped to do, so the fighters can go pretty far too.
sigged!
I think you will find that, as a US taxpayer you have already paid for it. And if they have to build a new one to replace it, 1.2 billion will no longer be enough. More taxes?
There is a short video on this page, link is under “video and audio news”:
The video shows about 7 of these B2 bombers. To give an idea of their cost, there is enough money on that one runway to buy EVERYONE in the UK (regardless of age), a decent unicycle.
Which I might also add is effectively the tax cost per US tax payer as well: one unicycle each. ( approximate figures)

No way, it’s a cheap tube
Figure 300 M yanks and 1.2 B bucks, that’s only 4 bucks each. A six pack of beer at best, not really a tire job, never mind an entire uni. It is insane though. By my math, this plane crash cost every man, woman and nose picker in the USA 4 $. It is insane. Could’a had a KH for everyone, for the cost of the whole squadron.
…
I remember having a discussion with my 6th grade English teacher about the B2, he said it was a waste 'cause they would never be used… Guess he was wrong
I’m not saying that I LIKE that they’re used… but I do think they are beautiful planes…
Beautiful plane, shame that it crashed, glad the pilots got out alright. They are useful planes, but i think in reality they dont need many of them. 3 of these planes would be more than enough for the amount of real missions these planes fly.
Correct! Yes indeed you could. Once you do the maths on just the cost of the planes in the video, divided by the number of US taxpayers ( about 110 million according to some net stats I read.) and you get about 75 dollars each, giving a cheap unicycle for each taxpayer. Add on operating costs and you may well get your KH. And that’s based on just the 7 B2s in the video.
But does anyone know how many B2s the US has in total? Seems unlikely that all the eggs would be on one runway. So total cost per taxpayer now becomes…?

Your 6th grade teacher doesn’t know that they won’t be used. Their lifespan is probably very long (though not as long as that of the B-52s, which have been around for about 50 years!). By “used” I would assume the meaning is to use it in combat, not training or testing.
Yes, a beautiful piece of technology, which we will hopefully never need to use again (I think they have been used in war at least once, but not sure).
But a waste? It sure is a huge amount of money, but having a big stick sometimes pays for itself in not needing to actually use it…
So, Billy, you’d rather see the USAF comprised of hang-gliders and ultralights? Contract Wal-mart to build us a few balsa-wood bombers, toss in a few rowboats with which to launch them, and we’re good?
Not quite Nao.
We haven’t paid for anything in the last 7 years, since Bush got into office and just borrows and spends to put money into the pockets of his ultra-wealthy friends (who build planes). He starts wars for this same reason.
It’s called a massive deficit.
You’re going to need some maple leaf decals for those when you get them
The B2, as cool as it is, is really old technology, they first were developed in the early-mid 80’s. (hard to believe they were made in the 80’s!!)
They are being replaced with the far cooler F22 which is way cooler and much more capable
