Light up unicycle!?

Aw, ye of little faith. I totally understand how you guys can be fishy of this. But what would I want with a junky old Torker CX? lol If you look back in the previous threads I’ve posted, you’ll find that I’ve sold my original CX and purchased an orange Nimbus MUni. Oh well, if all goes well, I will have picture evidence by the end of December.
I’ll try this again though-
THIS THREAD IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED
A UNICYCLE HAS ALREADY BEEN OBTAINED

Mmm… official.

I think the best way to do this would be cover the lit frame with a set of lexan tubes. Brush the lexan so it diffuses the light, and you’ll have a glowing unicycle frame.

I’ve lost track of who owns ‘[THREAD=49538]The Ugly[/THREAD]’ these days, but that would be the ideal unicycle to work on.

By the way…

This thread is officially still open. A bit.

Please note…

This thread is officially closed
a unicycle has already been obtained

not official, I can still post (Only gilby makes things properly official :))
But I want to add that I too have had the idea of putting lights in my old koxx frame. But that would be for show as an object that would sit on my shelf like a lamp, not ridable. I would love to see what can be done, I look forward to the end of December, although not just for a light up torker :L

You inspired me to make this (terrible) Photoshop. Classy eh? :stuck_out_tongue:

It would be cool to have two little hinged access holes somewhere on each leg of The Ugly forks so you could stuff in Christmas lights in or drop glow-sticks into.

Speak up sonny, us oldies can’t hear you.

What unicycle did you get and from where?

An old one that I purchased myself.

Which Photon Light Boards for some reason now seems to have shipped back to us! Not at our store yet, but UPS Quantum View has detected that it’s on the way here, arriving Dec 23rdish. Thanks for the gift

It was a nice way to recycle a mis-stamped unicycle frame.

Update

So, yeah just wanted to give an update this new year that Photon Light Boards’ attempt at creating a light up unicycle failed. [T.T] I have yet to pick up the frame from Serious Juggling due to the hectic chaos of the holiday season. I plan to soon, and at which time I can post pics of Photon Light Boards’ work to all who are interested. Judging by the quick turn around tho, I can assume they did not put much effort into the project. :stuck_out_tongue: Oh well, happy new year everyone!

Oh Boy!

Nomadic-- I just stumbled across your posts,
Well it might be too late but how about an old Schwinn with that flat frame? They could drill holes in that and seal the backside like their boards and it would be out of sight. I’ve got one!

That is a seriously good idea… those flat blades would not even blink at a bunch of 1/8’ holes for LED’s.

You’re lucky I left this thread officially still open a bit, otherwise you wouldn’t have been able to let us know this

Thanks Semack.the.monkey!

Forgot to post the picture.

Thanks, but no thanks. While it is a good idea, not many people ride that style of unicycle anymore. If I am able to create some sort of light up unicycle I would like to do it on a common style of frame for easy integration. But thanks for the offer anyway! Besides, I think I am done working on the light up unicycle idea for awhile, still will be thinking of possible concepts though…

Thanks but No Thanks

Ok, Glad you are still considering your own concept. Have you seen the light bars they use on motorcycles? Long thin unbreakable (Flourescent?) tubes available on eBay. Good Luck.

Yeah, I’ve actually found quite a few options that I believe would work quite well. Currently I’m looking at two main ones, EL Wire and somthing like this. I think there was one other option but I can’t find it in my mess of bookmarks… lol :stuck_out_tongue: So yeah, all seems pretty basic the only trouble is the power source and its position on the frame.

For your uni frame, how about the “beauty in the eye of the beholder uni” – plenty of ways to let the light shine through, and the extra weight from lights would be probably be relatively negligible.

Yes it would work well but, currently at this time I am not interested.
