Anyone try this tire on their 24” muni?
I really liked the 26" version for cruising around town when I had it mounted on a 38mm rim. It’s a bit heavy but very smooth. Other people complain about road crown sensitivity but it tracked straight for me.
If you are considering buying one I would also suggest looking at the CST Cyclops. It is essentially the same thing, made in the same factory, for half the price.

I’ve just put the hookworm tyre on my KH24. It is what I expected to be: fast rolling, thick sidewalls perfect for doing drops, stairs etc… It is a heavy tyre (nearly as heavy as the Duro) so if you are only going to use it for road riding (no Trials/street tricks etc…) you might better off with a lighter tyre.
I have a Hookworm on my 20 and regret the purchase. It is heavy and feels dead. I have an old Nimbus 24 in the garage with a Hookworm on it. It is fatter than the equivalent 20, and not so bad.
If you have the Duro on at the moment get yourself a good pair of tyre levers. I broke a couple trying to get the damn tyre out of the rim!!
I have the Kenda Flame but I’m not impressed with it so looking for a better road tire even if it is more narrow…yes changing tires is an exercise in patience…I’ve done it a few times between the Kenda and the Duro…almost worth getting another wheel lol…if not the hookworm is there another road tire anyone is happy with for their 24”?
The Hookworm has one real strength, bead to bead tread, making it a very robust tyre, great on sharp rocks and drops. The drawback it that it is very heavy and rigid against sideways forces resulting in strong camber effects and very slow response.
I use a Hookworm on my road 20" which has 100 mm cranks. The mass is a good thing on a little wheel especially one with short cranks, because it provides rotating momentum to help smooth out pedal strokes and roll over discontinuities in the road.
But on larger wheels the mass becomes a negative because it reduces the responsiveness making it harder for fast corrections. My 26 came with a Hookworm and I rate it as one of the worst tyres ever. Strong camber effects and very poor grip on wet concrete. Not suitable as a hard surface tyre at all. Some people consider it as a dual purpose on/off road tyre but, like most compromises, it doesn’t do well at either.
My road 26 has a Dominator2, 42 mm wide rim with a Maxxis DTH 26 x 2.15 folding bead tyre and a lightweight tube. This tyre is less than half the weight of a Hookworm. It rides like the unicycle equivalent of a sports car. Fantastic response, smooth ride, excellent rollover.
Unfortunately there are not so many tyre choices for 24s. There is a DTH for 24 inch but it is only a 1.75 so not really suitable for a 48 mm rim which I’m guessing is what you have. I have one on a 32 mm rim for my general purpose Standard unicycle. It is light and very responsive making it good for track and OK around the local footpaths (sidewalks). But I would choose the 26 every time on the footpath for its speed, agility, ride and roll over.
Personally, rather than try to come up with a road configuration for your 24 inch Muni, I would be looking at getting a bigger wheel. No one unicycle does everything well and really 24 is a bit small on the road. The time spent changing tyres and cranks is time that could be spent riding.
But then I’ve lost count of my wheels in the quest for having a uni for every application. I think it is somewhere around 15 at the moment and there is another one on the way in the post.

Is it for Muni or road? If you are looking for a light Muni tire: My daughter is riding a Schwalbe Rocket Ron 24 x 2.1 on a Nimbus Rim (42mm). Tire is very light, rolls good and has good grip.
As some one has pointed out sometimes having different wheels/unicycles is the best answer. I’ve got the hookworm on my KH24 at the moment so I can apply, on a bigger wheel, the skills I am acquiring on my 19 Trials Uni (rolling hops, drops, stairs…). I could do it with the Duro tyre (great for Trials) but I quite like the fast rolling Hookworm for town use. I also have a KH26 for Muni and a 36er one for road/long distance use. I still use the Duro on my 24 for very challenging Muni…
Each day I use whatever I fancy doing, or most of the time, whatever the weather dictates I can do (heavy rain for days = mud baths so not so good for steep Muni, very windy days=no so good with the 36er etc…)
I definitely plan on a bigger wheel in the near future…still undecided about a 27.5 or 32…I want to become a better rider on the 24 before getting another…thanks for the insight on
the hookworm…think I’ll be passing on that one but may take a look at The Rocket Ron. I don’t do anything real crazy for muni and I’m 120lbs so I feel I can stretch the limits of a more narrow tire a bit…I do have a 42mm rim…I signed up for a challenge to ride 100 miles for the month of June and will not have a new uni by then so want to find something a little quicker for the 24 for road riding…thanks for the replies!

I’ve always found the Maxxis Holy Roller to be a nice compromise between pavement and basic off-pavement (gravel trails etc). Rolls really nicely on pavement in my experience. As with any tyre, appropriate inflation pressure for your riding style and preference is key.
