This should be a "sticky" thread, if the mods have the power. Having a published book about our sport is a big step forward in legitimizing it. Even as a broke college kid, I consider this book to be a great investment. Great job, Kris!

Hey,
Thanks for the kind words. In any case, hopefully the thread is "sticky" in that it lives on as a discussion thread on riding techniques I write about in the book, once the book is out. Kris |

I'm sure his logo will be on there somewhere. That should count as signed then, shouldn't it?

=). There are logos in there for sure, on products, which is inevitable. But this book is really coming from me as a rider. I didn't mention any brands in the text, and tried to keep it as fair as I could. That made writing the equipment chapter challenging, as did trying to write it in a way that wouldn't quickly be obsolete. I think it worked; hopefully people agree.

Looking forward to your 2012 gear updates too, by the way, although I don't think I'll need anything new at the moment. But I'm curious anyways especially about cranks and disc brakes.

Congrats Kris! The book looks great! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy.
As my fellow geeks in this thread, I also really dig the website.

Yes, there will be an e-book released eventually, in epub and mobi format. But not for at least half a year. I did not want to release them simultaneously because the physical book is really the most beautiful way to read it: it allows for a more sophisticated layout and I used high quality glossy paper to show off the photos. The e-book is convenient if you have a reader and good for countries where the book won't be available, but I hope people will get the print book first.

Congrats Kris! Can't wait to buy one and read it. I think an interview with the tonight show (or Ellen or any other show) would be brilliant and they might go for it as it's so unique. Especially if you were able to show some trial skills...you should really check into this as it would be huge publicity.

Looking forward to getting a copy.
![]() Also, this book would be great to buy and then donate to a local library, especially with a bookplate on the inside cover "Donated by <unicycle club name>". You'd probably get some new members. (Assuming the local library has the space and desire) |

Hey Kris, in re-reviewing the Gradient Press site, I'm not seeing references to other books. Are your day job, family, and KHU not enough to keep you busy, so you're also starting up your own publishing company?
