They definitely would, though I would promote it more for people in the Southeast or east coast. Nowadays, this here country's big enough for many annual MUni events, and now we need a 2012 one for the West coast or "Sierra" area. We've struggled with a name, since the event has been in Nevada, Idaho and Canada. We also don't want to step on the toes of other, non-conflicting MUni Weekends such as the Phoenix one in February, Moab in March, etc.

For this one I stopped worrying about the name and focused on an anniversary of the very first one in 1996, but now we can go back to a discussion on how we can name this event going forward. Sierra Mountain Unicycle Weekend was one possible name. I also thought of "Original MUni Weekend" but that's only meaningful to people who have heard of other MUni Weekends. A good name should be meaningful to people outside of unicycling.

I'd love to have an Oregon MUni Weekend...

But I'm open to anywhere along the Pacific coast or western US/Canada. Santa Barbara, LA, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver -- all good.

My photos and videos on Smugmug

First pass; no Photoshop or any adjustments other than not uploading every shot. May follow up with some captions as I get the chance... Enjoy!

Thanks John for a fantastic weekend! Trail conditions were just perfect - amazing to do 3 great rides that also had good places to swim in a river.

Thanks John for organizing an outstanding event. The trails were awesome, the weather was spectacular and the camaraderie was great. It was definitely worth the trip from Maryland. I will post some pictures.

Thanks Austin, that was a great little movie!

I've just finished putting captions on most of the pictures in my Smugmug album. Some ride statistics and info:

Rider count:
22, plus Grace Fleming on foot, and Austin's dad on bike. Of those 22, 11 were directly involved with Ride The Lobster. Eight teams were represented, plus Kris who was an organizer.

Confluence Uphill Race:
It seems that little piece of trail hasn't gotten any easier over the years; it's actually gotten harder. Now it's got a bunch of loose rocks at the top, and they leveled off the wide trail above, making the top of that trail steeper. Only four racers made it to the top with the clock running. Best times:
1. Kris Holm - 20.06
2. Tom Holub - 22.28
3. John Foss - 23.78
4. Tomas Nemecek - 32.06

The prize for the race was provided to us by the trail gods on Day 2: somebody found a Blackburn multi-tool that was well off to the side of the Salmon Falls Trail. It contains an air cartridge, a chain tool, and a couple of other features of dubious usefulness to unicyclists on a trail. No other trail users could be found who claimed it.

regrets...

Okay,

Now that I've seen the photos & video, I am really regretting not having joined y'all this time 'round.

Don't let me make any excuses for next year's event, wherever it may be.

At least I'll get to ride with Munimag a week from Sunday & Nurse Ben this Friday. Here's to new/old riding buddies, wherever they may be!

Cheers,

UPD in Utah
