What camera do you use?

I don't know if there is another topic about what camera you use but I just made a new one.
I would like to buy a new camera and I was thinking about the "Samsung ES65"
If anyone use this camera or know a video wich is made with this camera, can you than please
post it. And you can also say wich one you use of course. and give a good
or positive reaction about it.

I don't know how much you want to spend but my mom got this camera a couple months ago and it is awesome. In video mode you can still zoom in and out. It has a built in GPS and HD video and a 12x optical zoom.

The camera he's talking about is like 70€. I don't think any top of the line camera will be within his budget.
The problem with digital cameras is that you pretty much get what you paid for. I would advise getting an older generation camera on ebay, with lots of homework beforehand, you would probably get less mega pixels but more reactivity and better contrast range, and down the line, vastly superior pics. Megapixels is just another sales trick to make people think they got top of the line equipment.
I only use DSLR, so I can't really give any advice on point and shoot cameras.

at the minute i'm using a kodak zx1, this was filmed with it
Really like it, especially for the price! £40 when I bought it. Bit of a narrow lens, but takes good quality video, does 60fps, cant fault it!

Getting a canon EOS 550d soon though <3

Casper forgot to tell us why he is looking at that camera and not some others. What makes it special? Only price? Price plus features? Which features are important? If your main desire is video, buy a video camera. That is, if you want to make good video, a video camera will be much better. If you want both, a still camera will do much better with the photos but be a lot weaker on the video. However, most video cameras are generally terrible for photos.

I have a Canon G12 and a Canon 20D. I love the G12 for RAW shooting and its combination of smallness with a ton of features. The 20D is a great SLR but it's several generations old. Still does a great job, but no video mode, small screen, etc. The G12 can't zoom optically while shooting video, which sucks, but that wasn't my primary need for it.

Woah, when did this start being a problem?
Megapixels is just another sales trick to make people think they got top of the line equipment.
Yup. They actually lowered the pixel count on the Canon G series cameras, and my G12 takes better pictures than my old G10. Six megapixels is plenty for anyone unless you're printing lots of posters. My old 4 megapixel Casio took a beautiful shot of the Grand Canyon that's a 24 x 36" print in my living room.

Go with the Lumix mentioned above, or follow Thiem's advice with the eBay research. Oh, BTW, my G10 is for sale. It's kind of a fixer-upper though, since there's a little piece of dirt/dust on the lens, inside. It will need to be taken apart to clean it, which was estimated to cost more than what I could sell it for if I sold it as-is. So it's for sale. $80 (comes with the manual, charger and even the original box!)

Good point
I meant that you can't expect to get an awesome camera if you paid less than a 100€. Then again it's all relative, and depends on your expectations and how involved you are in the crafting of your video or photos.

I've been using the Gopro hero hd for a while now and really like it, especially now that I have a monitor backpack to see and play back what is filmed.

But now I've added another really awesome camera to my arsenal. It's the canon "Elph" powershot, and it has some pretty awesome features packed into such a small package! I just shot this footage using the super slomo setting. It records video in 120 fps and then plays back super smooth slomo footage. Too many other features to mention, but suffice it so say that it is a great little camera, and tiny!

This was shot in 1280x720 hd, and the last image is a great example of the Still shot quality.
For full effect, watch in full screen and 720p.

Hey MuniAddict

I watched "Canon Powershot Elph 300 HD & still test mtb" and would like to know if those color saturation effect originally from Canon PS Elph feature or from your computer editor program?

Lovely Sunset still test.

Yes, I did set it to "super vivid", which works in both still and video mode. Here's a new video I just shot yesterday, where I was testing the 'super slow motion' feature. Only records for 30 seconds at 120fps, and doesn't record audio. Also the frame size is limited to 640x480 and so you can't get hd or wide screen in this mode. But the slow motion is super smooth:
