Hi gang

My new uni is here. There are are two piccies. One of the 29'' next to my 26''. Thought I'd put that in to show the difference in sizes.

My 26'' is a udc freestyle. With 127' cotterless cranks and a bog standerd tyre
My 29'' is a nimbus muni frame with 125\150 cranks and a big apple tyre. And it also has a brake fitted. So, if I want to go from cruising along the prom to muni down the slopes of the Great Orme I only have to change the tyre.
Both uni's have the kh freeride seat, the old version, which I find quite comfy.
First time out this evening. The wind was a little strong but I did okay. I fared better than I hoped to be honest. I freemounted first time with my 150's and off I went. Only went about half a mile, just to try her out. Then stopped, changed to125's and sailed home with the wind behind me. I was a bit wobbly and had to keep reminding myself about bum on seat. It was a smooth ride. Then as I came back into the car park I rolled off the tarmac and across the bumpy path. I was quite chuffed about that. I then realized what I had done and promptly fell of. I have not got the hang of dismounting yet. It was like learning to ride all over again, I was just stopping pedaling and fell off, usually sideways. I'm only a bit further up in the air than on the 26'' but it felt 'slightly scary high' if you know what I mean. Overall, first impressions, I quite pleased with it. It will make a great alternative to my 26'' for long stretches, but I think i may be a little to high off the ground for muni. I should add that I have not attempted any serious muni on my 24'' yet, so I should'nt run before I can walk.

Gotta go, tea's on the table

ps I think I'm going to take the 24'' and the 29'' on my hols next week. One for rough riding and one for smooth.

Thanks for the info and pics. Did you special order the 29? when I looked it up on UDC, those components were not listed as available together on the form.

Got some free mounts today I have to hold onto the tire to mount, but at least it works. That's helping me ride a little farther, since I'm not having to walk as much. Got any tricks for freemounting slightly up hill?

Hey guys.
Thanks jojoxie for the welcome I'm an apple smoothie!
Unibiddy If you have a gander at the UK site, there is both road and muni version of a nimbus 29''. I ordered it as it came out of the box.
The only difference between the two is : different cranks and different tyre.
The road has qu-ax 125's and a Big apple.
The muni has venture2 150's and a Kenda nevegal.
The seat is nimbus.

When my uni arrived, I (with help from hubbs) :
Put on the brakes. If it any help to anyone wondering about buying a brake bleed kit, buy it! It makes the job sooo easy.
Put on 125/150 cranks which were are off my 24''muni.
Swapped the nimbus seat with the kh freeride seat from my trial uni.

Good to hear your freemounting is getting better. I can only do statics.

No tips I'm afraid for going uphill. I can only manage it a few times. What I do is turn the across the slope uni so it is facing the flat, hop on and twist sharply to go uphill. I can only do it by being able to twist to the left and I need lots of space, about 6'. So I guess that's impossible to do on a trail.

Heeyyy Everyone!

Alucard!!!!
What pretty unis!!!

How about posting a picture of the two unis with YOU standing with them,
so we can better see the size of that GIANT 29"!

Due to everything under the sun beyond my control, my holiday did not go as planned...
in any way what so ever!... Including all of that intense riding I was going to do.
I know I sound like a broken record...
That video is coming! Don't give up on me!

I'm pretty surprised at how much the KH Freeride has affected my balance...
Since changing to the KH, the idling... which was up to 51... has not felt nearly as comfortable.
I hit 41, but only once. So, I'm playing "catch up" on that... yet again.

Oohhhh Young at Heart!
It sounds like you are doing GREAT!
How long have you been retired?
I LONG for that!!!!!!
And how WONDERFUL that you and your husband enjoy the same things!

I'm looking forward to having some fun with my kids at school.
My students are counting down the days until the last day (May 25).
They've been begging me all year to ride the unicycle for them, so we are going to have some uni fun in about 3 or 4 weeks. I did that last year, and it was an absolute blast! I couldn't even freemount the thing last year, so this year that will be an added detail that should impress. Idling... maybe. I'm guessing idling may not be as impressive to non riders as just being able to get on the thing without holding on to something.

Congratulations on your 29" Alucard!
I don't think I will be sitting that high up for a long time... if ever!...
But a 26"... I hope that will be in my not too distant future!
Enjoy your Hols Alucard!

Happy Riding Everyone!

Congratulations on the new unis Alucard.

57UniRider, going to 26" really is an improvement, longer distances, ability to roll over obstacles, etc.
But the more you enjoy the 26" the more you long for a 29".

Greetings

So what would you buy?

I have a Nimbus 24 muni that I am coming along on. What do people recommend for a next uni? Would you step up to a 26 or go right to a 29? i know this is insanity, but once you get one, you want another. And since my husband is about to order a new expensive metal detector, I will have "credits" for another uni

Talking

Giddy-Up Everybody!

Hey, I did something today that I've been wanting to do for well over a year!
I rode all the way around the 4 connecting halls at school this morning (without stopping).
This includes 2 substantial ramps. I had to go up one and down the other.
Somebody told me all the way around is 1/7 of a mile.

Riding along, I met 2 janitors and a teacher. It was early, so only the early birds were here.
I got some interesting conversation with the janitors... and what seemed like a not so pleased look from the teacher.

Okay, so I'm back on track... yet again... and I have a new practice track.
All I have to do is get here early... and stay late after school.
No wind, no rain... any time is good... except when school is in session ()
Hopefully the principal will not get wind of it and tell me I can't do it!

I haven't tried to do it before today due to fear of being seen.
I'm OVER THAT!

Hey, great ride! What a good venue, as long as you don't get kicked out. I had a great short ride the other day. Was at a school and the back drive was empty. It is a little sloped and I managed to free mount and then really pedal fast going up the slope. I actually felt in control until the UPD

Nice indoor training ramps! Next time you go around 3 times without UPD's, I'm sure.

Best regards,
Sanne

Looks like a nice place to ride and get used to landscape changes. That was always a difficult thing to overcome for me. Good luck!

Hi Martha
that looks like fun indeed.

Strange, the teacher was probably stunned I should imagine when the head gets to hear of it he/she will want you to ride around at lunchtime to get the kids to put down their computer games for a few seconds Otherwise he might tell you to get out onto the track

That's one thing I can say about all the riding I have done here, I have never once had a negative comment Ridden past groups of middle/high school kids and they have always been positive.

I'm still working on the backwards and hopping. Was a slow week though.

First ride on the 29 er

I was a little nervous, because it looks so much bigger than the 24 ,but it was ok. Feels really smooth compared to the smaller wheel. Can't freemount yet, but I'll work on that. Got the muni tire, but I may put a Big Apple on it. When I went back to the 24, it felt small! Hubby likes it too. I think it will be fun. Glad I went for it.

Congratulations on the 29"!

It's fun being able to switch between bigger and smaller wheels, 20" and 26" in my case.

Greetings
