[videos] Squared & Chalupa Drop: some cruising, some street, some muni, and a robot
Hola, amigos.
It's been a while since posting anything so here's a link to our new video: Squared. A little street and a little trials with a little cruising, and something thrown in for some guilty pleasure indulgence. Enjoy! SQUARED: A tale of two brothers... and a robot. MUSIC: "E=MC²" by Giorgio Moroder, E=MC² ©1980 Repertoir "Hip to Be Square" by Huey Lewis and the News, Fore! ©1986 Chrysalis "Ghost Ride It" by Mistah F.A.B., Da Yellow Bus Rydah ©2010 Thizz/Atlantic/Faeva Afta ©2010 Galaxy Brothers ____________________ Apparently it has been so long since I've been here that our last video was never shared. This one, Chalupa Drop, was from March of 2009 and documents a journey through the Pacific side of Costa Rica. CHALUPA DROP: chalupaDROP documents a unicycling journey through many of the diverse environments found in Costa Rica. Shot entirely on location. Galaxy Brothers is a custom unicycle company based in Hamburg, Pennsylvania. MUSIC: "Flight Time" by Donald Byrd, ©1972 Blue Note Records "Sugar Cane" by The Crusaders, © 1975 MCA "Okey Dokey" by Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band, ©1973 MGM "Much Gusto" by Montefiori Cocktail, © 2007 EMI ©2009 Galaxy Brothers Last edited by Buretto; 2010-06-11 at 07:48 PM. |

Really enjoyed that first video, I'll check out the second when I have time.
How did you film so smoothly? It really looked great.

Thanks for the good words.
The first one (Squared) was filmed using a pretty decent Canon HD camera (can't think of the model number) placed inside a housing box attached to a monopod. This gave the whole thing some extra weight so that it jostled around a lot less. Most of the shots were follow-shots... the person filming rode on a BMX while holding the camera contraption. Made for smoother shots than either walking or handheld. I'll see about snapping a photo of the unit, so you know what Im referring to. Thanks again. |

Really nice videos
![]() Out of interest, are the shin pads you are using in Squared 661 veggies? I was looking to get a pair but can't find much useful unicycling info on them, what do you think of them, are they protective enough from pedal bites etc? Thanks

Yes, they are 661 veggies and I highly recommend them. They're very comfortable and pretty good at taking the edge off impacts. A hard pedal bite can still hurt, but nothing terrible. I chipped my shins a few years ago and am still overly sensitive to sharp hits so I end up wearing them almost all the time. The only complaint I can think of is that my skinny legs don't fill them out very well. I keep meaning to add some extra velcro, but laziness tends to get in the way of that. I have a pair of KH leg armor, but I only use those if I really feel it's necessary. The other 99% of the time I use the veggies.

For us, it's not just about filming the tricks and the cruising... it's also about making (or at least trying to make) compelling videos that can be appreciated for more than just the uni-ing. So, it's good to see that there's folks out there with the same mindset. Thanks. |
