Trials & Muni!
|
I WANT TO!!! I really want to have a Mad4One hub on my Trials uni, but I can't afford it. All I need to have a perfect setup IMO would be the Mad4One hub and an Impact seat, then it would be perfect

, but hey life is short. I'm hoping what I gain in versatility of the frame size I don't noticeably loose elsewhere.

They have a 70mm and 50mm version in 26 and might even have some 80mm ones left. I am hopping to use a 26x50 on a Schlumpf and called about getting one in 36h (usually 32h) They told me that they have a few blanks left that they could drill in 36h but it is extra. There are people who run Larrys on 47mm rims so this should be just a tad better but not as good as a Marge. I am hopping it will be a good compromise if they still have any left by the time I get around to ordering one.

I believe that Turtle on the forums has a Mad4One hub with triton frame. The uni looks sick!

yes. it works fine. i've got three wheelsets for my triton frame: 26" kh with 3.0 tyre for dh, 26" mad4one/mavic rim with a 2.4 tyre for XC and the 29" with the schlumpf. all of them work perfect with the mountainuni disc brake system and the triton frame.

@bouin-bouin
@turtle I know Jogi (and hope meeting him again at Elsbet -though I did not register yet-) and buying in Europe is the simplest option ..... except that my new job will be based in the US. So the question revolves around: which way will I cross the atlantic with a brand new Muni? (don't be surprised bouinbouin: it's not because I am past retirement age that I will not take a new job )edit: may be the option is to buy the frame from Jogi then cross the atlantic with it and have the wheel and other features added in the US ?

Well guys, for quite some time now I've been contemplating a purchase of the Triton Frame.
The actual question may seen trivial if not silly but it's been seriously bugging me for a long time. I wanted to ask all of you who had ridden a normal crown-width frame, and then switched to Triton Triple Muniframe - the one to accommodate Surly Large Marge with Endomorph on it: Does it rub your thighs when you ride? Does the extra width in the crown feel in any way unnatural? Does it make the riding experience any less comfortable? Thanks 4 help ![]() Paulus |

If the crown didn't get in the way it really would be the only frame you ever needed for MUni. As it is my legs do gently rub the crown, which isn't generally an issue but riding offroad sometimes you will take a knock and I have ended a few rides with bruises on my inner thighs just above the knee. It doesn't feel unnatural, you aren't riding bow-legged or anything, usually it is just a light rub, barely noticeable when seated, more noticeable when standing in the saddle. When you do get whacked a few times though and a bruise is forming the rubbing can get on your nerves. I have thought about building something that will move either the seat or seatpost further forward effectively rotating the crown back and away from my knees. I don't regret getting the frame at all. They built it to my specs, the workmanship is great, it is very stiff, reasonably light, and it does have a bling factor that I pretend I am not interested in. ![]() I would not shy away from getting a Triton frame if you have the coin to spend, but wouldn't get the triple if you are not planning on using a fat wheel.
