bicyclist or unicyclist

Soon after becoming hooked on unicycling I began seeing a lot of other unicyclists. Well, not really.
It just seems like whenever I'm driving and approaching a cyclist head-on, I could swear that he/she is unicycling. Obviously it's just because the shape and movement looks the same from afar. Of course I'm disappointed once I see handlebars and a second wheel.
I guess my brain just wants to see unicycles!

Does anyone else experience this?

Comfort bikes with a very upright sitting position are popular. I've seen some with the handlebars set very high so that the rider is sitting almost perfectly upright, just like sitting on a unicycle. So yeah, I've been seeing more of those kinds of bikes out and around. From straight on and far away they do look like they're riding a unicycle.

Haha, that happens to me all the time! It's so disappointing to get closer/a different viewing angle and realize what it actually is.

What do you call the bunches of kids that follow Kris around at big unicycle conventions? "Holmies".

The other day I saw someone walk out of a lecture hall on my campus with a unicycle. And I thought I was the only one in the Colorado School of Mines the unicycled! It made my day :~) If that person is on here they should make themselves known lol

Happens to me too, alot. Especially if I'm a little further away and they are riding no handed for a minute, but then reality comes into focus and yeah it's a bicyclist.

That would be awesome. Mines is da bomb. There's so much rock climbing and unicycling and camping around here that it blows my mind :~)

I've had it the other way around a few times. Last week I was riding my 36er along a busy road and a car behind me beeped to get passed, presumably because of my slow speed. As the car passed me the front seat passenger said, "Oh, it's a unicycle!"

I suppose that we look like bicyclists from behind, too.

At the London Skyride event a few weeks back a woman on her bike saw me and said, "That's a strange looking bike", to which I duly replied, "It's a unicycle."
She paused and said, "Oh, I didn't notice that its only got one wheel."

Doh!

There was this once when I bumped into a friend who was on a unicycle and carrying another one. From afar, I could have sworn he was riding a bike and doing a wheelie.
