Sexist dress code rules... your thoughts?

So, today at school is one of the formal dress days, which really really sucks in my opinion.

First off, Girls pretty much get to wear anything they want, as long as it is not too slutty looking, and isn't jeans.

Guys however, have to wear exactly this.

Long sleeved button up shirt, tie, black dress shoes, black socks, and a nice looking belt. AND a jacket if you want.

What do you think about this, and how do you think this came to be?

Letter of complaint and if that fails a small scale strike/ riot(not a violent one). Get every body to write a letter.

Next time, get all the guys to dress "like girls" in protest.

Why would you wear a jacket? Doesn't it feel warm like spring there? All that stuffy clothing must be uncomfortable. Ties are evil.

What happens if you don't follow the dress code?

Welcome to the real world. That is the purpose of the lesson the school is teaching you: the need to be able to fit in with irrational social codes, because nearly all social codes are irrational, but without them life would be chaotic.

I am sure that the girls have a different set of requirements that you do not know about. We never had a day at school where we had to dress up...do you go to a private school?

I think it is a minor annoyance in the life of a young man who is probably well off enough to have time to give a crap about it.

It came about because historically men, not women, have served in the armed forces and their civilian dress mimics the military need to strip them of their individuality. It doesn't hurt the interests of business if their workers, blue and white collar, walk in lock step.

You even get detention if you just wear your normal school uniform?

Schools don't need to support stupid social codes.

Say you're gender neutral and that the boy's dress code dosn't apply to you.
