now that the novelty of my 29'er has worn off i regret purchasing it. I do not ride it as much as my trials, or my 24".

My first 29er XC ride
I've had my 29er (kh) for 6 months now and have been riding it with a big apple on the street exclusively. I recently bought a WTB exiwolf and finally got a chance to take it on a XC trail near my house (where I have been riding my 24 earlier this summer). I was really blown away by how much easier the 29er was to ride there (than the 24). The trail has a few steep sections that I had to walk (had to walk em on the 24 as well) but actually did better on the 29er than the 24 and I'm in worse uni shape now. I'm kickin myself for waiting so long to take the 29er off road, it's so smooth and sooo much fun.
Oh and there is about 1/4 mile of pavement to get home from the trail. The exiwolf felt really weird on the pavement after being on the dirt for an hour or so. The tire is great off road and o.k. on the road. The difference between road and pavement is amazing. Last edited by anton005; 2007-10-13 at 09:47 PM. |

Congradulation Russtynail
It's like the day before christmas waiting for your new unicycle.
I put 20km on mine after it arrived. It eats up the km's so easily. Go slow at first till you get used to the speed. Enjoy. |

I really like the WTB Exiwolf (2.3) for a mix of road and offroad, and I think others on the forum do too.
After following someone off of a 2 foot drop with a bit of a sideways landing yesterday, I'm thinking about trying a 2.5 too for bigger drops. |

Congradulation Isaac
Congradulations. Welcome to the 29".
Let us know how you find it. Don't expect to master it in one day. Be prepared for a difference in freemounting, idling, and greater speed. Going up and down hills/inclines may also offer new challenges till you build up your familiarity to it. |

I ride both 20" and 29" daily
I ride 10+Km's daily back and forth to work on 29".
When I come home I practice on my 20" To be honest when I switch between 29 back to 20 my freemount, idle, is throw off. Each pedal crank travels shorter or farther between the two. For example: When I freemount 20" my crank is at the 3'oclock position, and I don't hang onto the handle. When I freemount the 29" my crank is at the 5'oclock postition and I hang onto the handle to mount. I find bunny hopping the same. Try idling for the first time and let me know how that goes. To be honest I have no problems idling on my 20" but can't do it on 29". It may be my technique but practice should cure that. |
