No... the database hasn't grown much as a result... not nearly the 50 GB in a day the guy mentioned in his presentation when he anticipated that it'd be posted on slashdot.

I just noticed on Daily Rotation that Tiny Disk got mentioned again. This time at Shell Extension City. Certainly not a Slashdot, but it means the story is still making the rounds.

Thanks for the heads up... so far the whole thing hasn't been much of an issue, other than blocking a couple users from the TinyURL servers. The TinyURL database is now 3.0 GB, and on the day of it being slashdotted it was 2.8 GB.

I got slashdotted once. I used to have videos I made from a camera mounted on my RC car. Someone posted the link on the front page of slashdot... the server hated it... 100GB of bandwidth in one day. I was fortunate my provider was cool and didn't make me pay for the overage. Slashdot sometimes has some cool info, but for a smaller provider getting that kind of exposure, it can really screw things up short term.
