The Nielson families don't come here, and Lou Harris doesn't know we exist.
Are these polls of any use at all? (other than frustrating certain UK members who can't figure out how to vote) ? I've tried to include all possible/probable respondents. If you find yourself excluded from the poll, you just don't count!

A small percentage of the polls I've seen here have been useful. But most ask questions that are too wide open for the answers to be meaningful, or don't include enough options for people to answer accurately.
Also the body of people responding to polls is usually pretty small, so it doesn't produce much in as far as proving anything, they just provide very localized information. The group responding to any poll is of course ony a subset of the people who post to the newsgroup and forums, and not the average unicyclist.

You appear to have missed out the "This is an example of a poll which should be in Just Conversation, if it has to exist at all" option.

i like polls but they are used somtimes without much thought going into them, some of my polls from a year ago were lame but i think i had the most effective one of all.it was the "what color profiles are you using" black or chrome?
if polls get more inticate than that they start to stink fast. the best thing about polls by far is how a person can vote without leaving a trace or bumping it to the top.

How do polls annoy people? I agree that they're often useless but I don't see how people can get annoyed by them. The most recent poll I did about the muni masses was very helpful to me. Surely it's worth keeping the option of polls for the ones that do turn out to be useful. Andrew

I had no idea that polls were so controversial. Leave it to the forums to burst my happy little bubble... thanks a lot. Man, they say "ignorance is bliss", but how can i stay ignorant without being a hermit?? Polls are Polish? What were you smoking when you made that up?
THIS is an annoying poll. Why did i click on that link? Why could i see that little coaster uni thread or something..... And im not gonna say no offence cuz taht was a crappily laid out poll with too many choices. most polls are ok though.
