I took a peaceful quiet ride at one of my favorite spots yesterday. The snow had been there for a week. People had walked on portions of the trail but for a mile or so I was the first, except for a coyote and some deer.

I actually found riding on a few of the rock gardens to be less intimidating mentally. All along I knew that I could ride better on them than I was but confidence had been keeping me from doing it. With a thin layer of snow it became a lot easier, that is until I caught a rock with the edge of my tire.

Gave my Schlumpf 26er a new look with Gunmetal colored plasti dip! It's a rubberized coating, and a lot of people do their whole cars with this stuff.

What's great is that if you ever want to remove it, you can just peel it off, no sanding needed. Came out pretty nice and I also got a new 26 x 2.2 tire which is super light, fast rolling and perfect for both road and trail. And the $13.99 price ain't bad either!

It has been over 2 years since I've taken the 36er out for a ride. It went surprisingly well. No UPDs, hit every mount and even managed 2 hands on the handle for most of it. I should definitely do it more often!

Whose dinner time Jim? I am still looking for a creature hiding behind one of those eucalypts.

Some nice bush tracks there Jim and Sam. In the recent heat I bet the bush smelled good.

Nice air you have... we once again had air that you could bite with 600% of allowed level of PM10 dust. That is why my commute outfit looks like that recently.
As a bonus one without mask from last Friday's winter bike to work day

Really good day yesterday - on my own with no work commitments for a change, so I went on a sort of 'unicycle/Pokemon Go roadtrip'. First I visited some woods where there was supposed to be a rare Pokemon - there wasn't, but there was a really nice easy cycleway converted from an old railway track which was ideal for my level except for a lack of mounting aids after the first section. Then I revisited an area where I had been for a meal with my sister a few weeks ago and thought at the time that it would be a great place to unicycle. It's a recently redeveloped quay area, and not very busy yet, so I had fun for about four hours unicycling round on the various different slabbed, gravelled and paved surfaces. And discovered that one of the advantages of a unicycle is that if your cycle lock refuses to work, you can not only take it into the restaurant, you can even take it into the restaurant loo with you!
