I just took my new guni out for a spin, having just put on a cycle computer this afternoon. (I only got the guni yesterday.) I managed 22.8 mph and found it easy to exceed 20 mph on any downhill. On flats, I could maintain 17 mph fairly easily. With practice (and losing a few pounds), I hope to hit 25 mph.

I can't change gear on-the-fly with my size 9 feet and 150mm cranks. But it's still a great uni to have!

I'm still surprised at how close the geared and ungeared speeds are.
A few people are posted in both and it seems like only a 1.5 to 2mph faster.

It is interesting how my top speed on a geared 29" is only a touch slower than my (new) top speed on the geared 36". I think that a big part of it is crank size, and there's also the practice factor (I've only ridden the 36" a total of 150 miles so far).

New "old guy"

Been away from unicycling for more than thirty years and decided to get a coker 36 inch (should have checked forums first I realize now). But at three week in I can average 9.2 over a three mile run- on the flat ... Can't go up hill yet and too afraid to go down.

My ungeared 45" speed is still several mph faster than I'm willing to go on my Schlumpf 36". I get into the 18s on that one and I'm happy enough. Could it be that my 45" speed was set when I was less than half my current age? YES. Come to think of it, the two speeds I have listed in there were both done around the same time; between 1985 - 1987.

At age 51 I'm good with 18 mph. Maybe a little more over time...

Slightly uphill on the outward stretch of my longest ride so far (65 miles). I wasn't out to get a top speed (as shown by my setup: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...03189080_o.jpg) but the wind was behind me and the surface was good.
