All news servers have limited retention, i.e. they delete old
messages. I use Free Agent for a news reader, and have set it up to
keep all downloaded messages indefinitely. And since I download all
messages in r.s.u., I effectively keep a local archive. Free Agent is
freeware, yet very powerful and user-friendly, and can be downloaded
from <www.forteinc.com>.
