How do you fix Gmail problems?

All my gmail on my computer has disappeared, except for 5 new messages from Gmail about the new changes they have made.

The messages show up on my phone, but I cannot read them.

How do you fix Gmail problems?

You need to update your account information. PM me your social security number and credit card information and I can do that for you.

I always access it through my "Favorites" list in Safari.

I now see that my wife's Gmail account name flashes as it comes up, and her name is at the top. She never uses it, so there is nothing in her account.

I went to search, but it only found the one email I had sent to her.

Are you sure you're looking at the same Gmail account you've always been using? The main problem with "free" email or other online services is that the accounts are disposable. People create them, use them for a while, then forget how to login, so they create a new one.

Employees at my company who use our Android phones have to have Gmail accounts in order to take advantages of Android's synching abilities. They still use their stepagency.com accounts for email, but that Gmail account has to be there to tie together their calendar and contact info. But I found out that people never remembered the credentials to those accounts, and some forgot they even existed.

So now, when I have someone create a new account, the first thing they do is write it down on a piece of paper. Yup, paper! Somewhere, you have to keep a record of your access info, or you're going to lose it. It doesn't have to stay on that piece of paper, but you have to store it somewhere that you can find it in the future. I use my Dropbox account to hold a lot of that stuff.

Basically, you are right. Somehow it took over the Favorite, so I had to Log Out Ethel and log myself in.

I don't, gmail should fix their trouble.

I run my own mailservers, and from corporate accounts I have with gmail at customers of me, I clearly see I'm even better in making the edge between false-positive and non-spam. And it's not even that hard. Besides that in storage I don't have any limit other than the size of the filesystem. And last but not least; I don't have to give up my privacy!

Other gmail accounts I use is when I reset my android phones, but thats just to access Market (and not to silently hand-over my addressbook to Google).
Basicly, I don't like gmail that much, although I understand that people who don't like to spent any penny do. They will have to accept gmail's troubles.

But your email service is not free, I presume.

Exactly. People have such high expectations of a free service. If you rely on it too much, be prepared to get burned. They don't owe you a thing. My company uses Android phones, which require a gmail account to connect the services. But we use our own corporate email for actual email communications. We pay for that email account, and the administrators of it are obligated to keep it functioning, not make changes without notifying us, etc.

Google offers amazing and useful, free services. But remember, they have no obligation to you, and they can change or take down those services whenever they want.
