I have been practicing still stands and I have noticed that being relaxed helps a lot. Another key thing is not to over compensate and move my arms too much like the chair balancing analogy above.
I was wondering, do people find it easier to sit on the seat or to stand on the cranks? I've tried both, and I was wondering which would be more worth my time to practice. |

Personally I practice both since I'm a trials rider. The skills transfer either which way pretty much, not 100%, but close enough with some practice you'll be great at both. I also do sif standstills.
Got my trials bike today, it's soooo much easier for me to trackstand (standstill), I'm not great, but better than on my uni. Good news, I suck at everything else haha. |

I like to do stillstands when I'm tired (Of course not too really tired. Only a little).
They only use a little energy, and when I'm tired my thoughts fly to whatever happened earlier that day or something else, making me more relaxed and better at stillstands. And I think a uni is way more comfortable than most chairs.
