1st Annual Uni Climbing Clinic

Uni Cimbing Clinic
Sunday, May 19, 2019

Uni people UNIte! No registration required just show up.

It's not a competition or a race, just a fun way to challenge yourself, improve your skills and get tips and advice on climbing technique. Both climbs are short and paved and closed to car traffic. They range from beginner/intermediate to intermediate/advanced, and each climb is less than 200 yards in length making them perfect to session and do multiple climbs.

Bring whatever Uni works best for you, and maybe also bring a 29er or 36er if you'd like to do a beach ride afterward since the second location is right above the beach bike path.

BC, Ultimate wheels and geared unicycle will be on hand for you to try!

Meetup time 10 a.m. at the corner of 37th Street & S. Averill ave., San Pedro, CA 90731. You may also RSVP to: unitard99@gmail.com

Wow, that would be so cool to attend. This ‘almost’ makes me wish I lived in Cal. I hope you have a great turnout. Enjoy!

I wish I could be there. I love hill climbing.

I'm sure I could have picked up some tips too.

*update*

New meet-up location same date and time:

Deane Dana Friendship Park and Nature Center

1805 W 9th St, San Pedro, CA 90732

Plenty of free parking and easy to find. We can start here with a super fun climb, and back down by way of singletrack trail! Optionally you can simply go back down the same way. Short but challenging and fun! We can caravan it to the original location afterwards, less than a mile away.

Hi Terry,

I cannot join due to an ocean being somewhere in beteen :)
But can you share the details (Length, height, grade) of the climbs you will give the clinic on?

So the non-attenders like me have something to relate to.
Thanks!

I can't make it at 10 am, but could arrive by about 2 pm.

Is anyone planning to still be riding then?

I'd like to do the beach ride AND try a geared unicycle!

Date Change!!

Ben Soja and I had a conversation this morning and decided this Saturday May 18th at 10 a.m. would be preferable to Sunday the 19th, the original date. Main reason is forecast is calling for a 50-50 chance of some rain on Sunday, but zero chance Saturday with perfect weather. So if you are in the area I hope you can join us it should be a blast!

What a fantastic fun time we had at the first annual uni climbing Clinic! Clockwise from the left: Victor, Augie, Bill, Scott, Mark, Terry, Ben. Ben rode his freewheel up the monster 33% grade pictured behind us, and coasted back down at high speed!

Dang it. I've not been keeping a close eye on the forums for a little while but had I known about this I would have considered flying out there. Looks like a fun hill climbing adventure.
